Normal

We all have different “normals” – What we eat or wear or read Or when we sleep or watch TV To like the lives we lead. The jobs we do, the trips we take, The purchases we’re buying – Our choices all are factors In our living and our dying. But “normal’s” been upended In this crisis-laden year, With many things on hold because Of circumstance or fear. My normal may not be like yours Though maybe my resistance To getting back to what once was Will keep us at a distance.

You can say this sixteen hundred times. "“normal’s” been upended"

We now have a generation of children who must think sticking needles in people is normal; can you even imagine their future? Aloha! Rico

A studied view so many misses. Like your simple and true way of writing this piece.

Well-written verse with impact, Ilene. I'm afraid this will be the case, but I hope not. I'm also afraid "normal norms" have been turned upside-down with no way to right themselves. Enjoyed your write.

it certainly has been challenging my friend, we are due to have lockdown ease on Monday and we are told it is the last time it will happen on the Island although measures may be re introduced should (when) the virus comes back. I have struggled massively with my first dose of the injection (tiredness on a scale I would never have imagined and achiness) I am hoping I am now over the worst:-) hugs jan xx

Maybe normal will just creep up on you without your noticing it... It just 'clicked in' for me this week. Vaccinated, healthy, happy -- my mask's off (except in supermarkets), and I'm back to my old routine, plus seeing my old friends. Feels great! Here's to hope, Gershon
