Trekking

My bag is almost full with what I can call
a house;
I'm not prepping-
greener pastures my soul seeks....

We are so superstitious
carrying a lucky clover,
Conspiracies grow like fire
they burn, send people running;
Premature prepping begins,
not our imagination!
The media fuels belief
that huge comet
it will fly close by,
Where will it take us now?

Summer Gala

late Spring
refining
the sun,
zealous to
shine forth.

the flowers
prepping
for garden
party —

red hippy
roses,
marigolds,

soaring
hollyhocks,

Summer sprouts.

Prepping For Spam

He blunders around grocery stores.
Impulse buying - compelling.

Back home
he looks at the bagged,
wonders why,
wonders
if he will also charge around
tomorrow.

The larder, the pantry
the stacked cans
of all kinds of Spam

gleam untouched
but one day -
you never know.

Wasting Time

Tires grind,
Long car rides,
Never seize memories.
Wheels turning,
Forever thinking,
The next step.
Prepping myself,
For outcomes,
In the past.
Lasting through the present,
Giving future mistakes,
Taking fates turn.
Writing histories pretense,
While running out,
Of Time,
To exist.

Erika - Hurricane Poem Nature Gone Awry

I have always, so it seems been obsessed
I know it strange, tis most bizarre I guess.
With the phenomenon of gone awry
And signs and omens God puts in the sky.
And now, Erika in yon atlantic.
Calm resolve and prepping . No need panic.
Over " Bermuda triangle" ever THAT be.
What will you do , we see you in the sea.

A Poem

A poem should
explain itself --
define what it
is – at the poem’s
prepping, by the poet
done all the required
kneading

whether healing or
bleeding, a poem
should be its own
hunger or feeding --

should stand alone
clear-day, or cloud
seeding --

In conclusion – poems
should require only
a reader reading….

Goose Stepping

I'm falling too far behind,
Out of breath and flying blind.
Heavy fog, it's hard to see,
But know the flock's in front of me.

Just striving to do my best,
Gotta catch up with the rest
So surprised I've flown this far,
Now up ahead, there they are!

Landing on a Chrystal lake,
Feel my mind and body ache.
Safe ashore and now we're prepping,
For waddling and goose-stepping.

Coyote

clouds soon come to pass
through shapeless, magnificant laps
which curl around the Harvest moon
black masses hang suspended doom

while constellations peak way
soaking amongst the dim and gray
fluorescent canopys they lay
prepping infinity for the coming day

as fog climbs up silhouetted crop
and slithers down the mountains' top
still darkened by the moons' surrender
to the charging sun, reclaiming it from under

Scented Leaves

Gold leaves are stirring
Beneath my soles, scented leaves
Like warm gingerbread wakes
Prepping for the day
Families give thanks

See frost white cement
Reminding me of cookies
Oh the batches and tins
This is how we know
Christmas soon begins

Red and green fireworks
Summon a great new year, bang!
Kiss me like your champagne
Look to see me soon
Reminisce and change!

Prepared To Pounce

Just around the corner
With its claws prepared to pounce,
March is patient, waiting
For what Tuesday will announce:

That February's come and gone
Despite its extra day,
So, lion-like, this newest month
Will not be kept at bay.

Although it brings St. Patrick's Day
And, most important, spring,
We never really can predict
What weather March will bring.

The calendar is prepping
For the turning of a page
But exactly what will come with that
Is very hard to gauge.

Between the Ups and Downs

Between the ups and downs there is
A place that’s smooth and flat
And that is where, for most of us,
Our lives are mainly at.

So many choose to fix it up
As cozy as a nest,
Creating a retreat as an
Escape when we are stressed.

Or just a place to pass the time
While waiting for the highs,
Or prepping for the worst so lows
Won’t come as a surprise.

The ups and downs don’t last too long
And when they’ve left the scene,
It’s comforting returning to
The place that’s in-between.
