Duration
Those flurries of small specks
My mother called leaky faucet kisses.
Late sun winks from a power line
Beyond the neighbor's tree.

In heaven, where repetition's not boring-
Silver whistles of blackbirds
Needle the daylong day.
We are still on the air,
Still on the air they say....

Wake Me Sunlight, I'M Waiting
So i will sit like a sparrow on a power line,
just patiently waiting for the sunlight
to wake me up and save me.....
save me from these dying times.
Because this land is loseing color
and these trees they bare their bones.
i am just waiting for the summer
maybe by then i will have a place
to call home....

Sitka
She waits, a grounded eagle, eating takeout, passing time,
And stares, a crippled hunter, chasing salmon of the mind.
She courts a passing breeze; hopeless passion
   stirs her wings,
But she must sit, a grounded eagle, dreaming dreams
   of bygone things.

Note: Sitka was a bald eagle I once had the privilege to know.
She broke one of her wings flying into a power line and was
grounded for the rest of her life....

Electrocuted By a Power Line
(This is a true story)

He was trying to do a good deed and he died.
A power line fell on a car and trapped the people inside.
He thought he could move the power line off the car and save them.
But when he touched it, it electrocuted him.
The people in the car survived.
But it's sad that that guy is no longer alive.
He wouldn't have tried to move the power line if he'd known.
If you ever see a power line that's down, leave it alone....

Starling on an Electric Power Line
Lined up
they perch in spaced formation,
ready to take fright and scatter
should a roving hawk approach too near.

I don't know why
they seem insulated from the deadly current,
or why
they make such a reckless target
for the raptors.

A cat looks at them
from a city pavement.
I do know what it is thinking.

The differing spaces between the starlings
could be musical notations.

A language just for cats and hawks,
played loudly,
on a blank sheet of sky.

How Alive
alone in my happy Living Room
with anry a soul in sight
outside the Earth is crying
as the Sky claps with thunder
the Wind whistles through the sir
when Trees fall stomping on the power line
the World is completely pitch black
Door Knob spins itself rapidly
and Door moves aside to reveal Death
Death just as I imagined him
wearing a clock blacker than Night
Earth starts spinning faster than Light
Clouds and Souls that were taken scream
then the Universe is silent; all is dead...
