Pittance

Pittance Nary a pound a penny a pittance not. Many a scoundrel will take what you've got. By Josehf Lloyd Murchison

No Deal

Phyllis Phyffer phoned a friendly farmer,
And proffered a mere pittance for his land.
"Phooey!" fumed the fairly livid farmer,
And dropped the phone receiver from his hand.

The Forgotten

The forgotten haunt our nation's street corners
The blind, the lame, the broken -- so forlorn or
Stricken and smitten every step of their way
They ask but a pittance -- to elevate your day

Pittance For Trump's Remittance

Mere Pittance for Trump's Remittance

Always knew would be mere pittance,
We did receive for Trump's remittance,
And never practical;
Went on sabbatical;
Used poor vocabulary in each sentence.

Inspect Than Detect and Correct

Inspect than detect and correct.

Remittance for pittance was part of admittance.

Swerve after you observe the curve.

Receive, retrieve and relieve.

Amount of deceased increased and their
souls would be released.

The Craftsman

He mended shoes for a mere pittance
        His payment was your smile
     A craftsman from another age
Pride in his work his going wage

One morn his light was off, his door closed
        His customers wept, understanding
Never again would they see his like
The call of his craft daily demanding…

Blue Dog by George Rodrigue

George Rodrigue never expected the Blue Dog to be his ticket to fame
But it is, and it has never stopped
If you were one of the lucky ones, you have first editions
Purchased for a mere pittance on the streets of New Orleans
Others can copy it, but they had better not.
Everyone knows who has rights to the Blue Dog
George has become rich off of him, and rightly so

A Winter Night's Companion

A book's a friend come winter's merciless frost
Outside, the teeth of Summer's scarecrows chatter
Reading days by lazy streams and willows lost
To brutal snows and howling nights they've scattered

A book's companionship's bought with little cost
The pittance spent per hundred page no matter
For deep within each line of buried treasure
Each sacred winter's night becomes a pleasure

Whose Vagabond

What fortuitous pittance shall fate,
Afford this fiddle heart-
And render its fracture walls fixed?

What greasy charms-
From God's blessed bosom
Shall beguile her resolute hand,
A dark path to alter,
And sway my fall into the abyss?

In wonder do I ponder,
Whether the sum would suffice,
To lose my soul to the darkness-
For eternity to be;
But for in a momentary bliss bathe?

The Gods' Vagabond.

Angelic Inspiration

The inexperienced poet created a pittance of an outline
Nothing mammoth, but it was a beginning
Her inspiring angel ran with it
Giving her fantastical ideas while she slumbered
Unfortunately none were retained upon her awakening
No worries the I.A. thought. There are million ideas from whence they came.
God smiled at her tenacious optimism.
Glad the supervising angel had assigned her to that particular poet.

A Token For the Master

Boiling away the edges
letting the core expand
Limitations drifting free
clarity at hand

Horizon coming at me
sky and earth as one
Sunsets in my memory
answers on the run

A token for the master
a pittance bye and bye
Value placed in what is not
scientists decry

My width and breadth immortal
the universe set free
To roam forever in my heart
—your eyes too blind to see

Gift

The rich are poor in giving
As the poor are rich in receiving
Pittance charity drips into their hold
Dearth of spices pounds
In the mortar of gifts
Unable to fill their palms.
Fingers more eager to receive
Meet the reluctant elbows to stretch
In a triangle
Which begets all
The artful few stay at the piercing top
And the teeming crowd languishing
At the broad base
This gloomy glom makes the triangle stand.

Growth

Majestic evergreens, ramrod tall, towering over the fence they border
Long-ago runts, thirsting for water, struggling for their place in the sun

Bought for a pittance, a young man's dreams egging them on
Now he's older, they've left him behind, stumbling in their wake

As they fight back against the chill Spring wind, headstrong as he once was
His laughter parting the very skies, pleading for Nature to take her course

His Wait

I move along my path in cosmic silence, a boulder to those shiny stones, the stars I keep in sight. The many times I curve around the radiating fountain of my force seems everlasting. The space I travel through is vast, and yet. . . . to the eye of my Creator, this voyage I make is but a jaunt. His wait for me to cease will have been a pittance of a pause. I believe this has lost twice. Trying for third time a charm. hahaha

What and Where We Came From On Our Jorney Home

Padlocked are the Gate's
Stationary lie the Conveyor Belts
The Wheel upon the Mining Head Gear

Turns,
 No more

The community has gone
So to is the Coal
And the Sunset

Resigned to History
No more mystery
Pressing a Museum to Explain

That what which our Elders did
For a measly pittance
To put food on his family's plate
And to afford a Pint after a hard days graft

With only a Helmet and Light
To find his way Home
Guardian Angel
Willing

Taking Pains to Love

Sore Ankle

impatiently edging past my husband
the lid - lifts off - from the pot
microwave still ajar

He Cares

not in mood to hear capitulation
at my ankle’s screaming pittance
I harden, he softens

Introspect

his kindness and care remove my black ring
my mood slowly turning blue
not unlike my ankle

Prologue

microwave does not throw out dirty looks
nor does it knock out the light
that fills room with gladness

Bits N' Bots

Bits 'n Pieces of my soul
to be downloaded by the Marketplace
(or souled for a pittance at your request)
Doth thou find me Likeable?
God Bless my Fakebook Self!
All the shiny bots N pieces I've manicured just for you?
Why, they're just a miniscule reflection
An endless mirror,
scattered pixellated gems--
An electronic finger pointing back at Me.
The manicured, curated Me I've
divvied up for you to see, Yes--
but Nonetheless, you didn't protest;
Or did Thou?
