Red fire blazing in the wood;
just charred stumps where trees once stood.
The denizens must flee and run
because the deadly flames have won.
E-ach day life is in peril,
D-angerous things abound,
E-veryone seeks protection,
N-o safe shelter is found.

They cry
When we drain swamps
They mourn
When we burn grass
They weep
When we eat cakes
They shade tears
But they leave a message behind
“Humanity we are gone
Continue to live, lust and party
In the shadow of your own peril”
How thunderous nature's howling must be for humans to realise they are in peril?*

The past rises
grey and pink
amid rasping gravel
barnacled to chasms
sunken and sodden
clawing at hasty feet
that skate manically
and hurl bodies cruciform
onto mocking concrete.
The marred morn pauses
for a nanosecond
to ponder the maelstrom
of mangled flesh
and sirens.

Fragile
In Danger
Stop Pollution
Now

What people are to each other don’t try to guess
A mistake can get you into a most terrible mess
“And this must be your father” isn’t smart
The young woman’s husband is that old fart
“Your grandchild’s cute” to an unknown man
Who is holding onto his own daughter’s hand
“Who is this with you” is a much better bet
Than the angry response you else might get
My auntie her first name is Beryl
Put other road users in peril
She mounted the sidewalk
The pedestrians squawk
and report her to Sherriff Merrill
The Sherriff puts her under arrest
as Beryl says she tried her best
But before Beryl kills
With her dire driving skills
He insisted she retakes her test
The examiner discovered that
Aunt Beryl is as blind as a bat
So it made perfect sense
To decline her licence
I’m as pleased as a Cheshire cat!
