The Peril of Speculating On Relationships

The Peril of Speculating on Relationships

By Elton Camp

What people are to each other don’t try to guess
A mistake can get you into a most terrible mess

“And this must be your father” isn’t smart
The young woman’s husband is that old fart

“Your grandchild’s cute” to an unknown man
Who is holding onto his own daughter’s hand

“Who is this with you” is a much better bet
Than the angry response you else might get

Hey Robert, I try to write on a variety of subjects and often make my work too long. Some won't read longer writings. Thanks for your kind comments. Elton

Elton, this is one of your shorter submissions I've seen. These eight lines display a lot of descriptiveness and wisdom along with appropriate rhyming. This is another admirable post.

Hey P.D. We had a child when I was 40 and wife 35. We both looked our ages and then some. We got questions all the time about our "grandchild." We thought it was funny and weren't offended at all. Even funnier was when people tried to "fix" what they said. "Oh, I don't mean you look old," when that was exactly what they meant. Elton
