BLACK EYE PEAS ON

At the kitchen table I like to linger while I drink ginger tea
Planning my weekly shopping list I must remember corn and peas.

and indeed
black eye peas

SOUL FOOD BLUES
There's something funny about God
That some find decidedly odd
We look to the sky
And still wonder why
We only find peas in a pod
Death
took you from me.
Tears well up.
I miss you
Daddy.
Peas in a pod.
No one else could
read me like a book.
Sister where are you going?
Can I go along?
I reckon, but you have to do what I say!!
OK just so I can go, too!
Two peas in a pod.
once a fellow named peas
jumped some rather tall trees
though he became sick
trying to mimic
flights of migrating geese.
food is gold
am told
you eat black eye peas
in deed
its understood
coming year will be good
this I won't to shear
FOOD FOR NEWYEAR
Eating cavier(fifty dollar shrubs)
Walking on lush green lawns(spinach, squash, and english peas)
Sleeping in clover(blackberry orchards)
its a food thats so cool
make you strong
tough bones
come from the ground
we plant them around
it like a hanging weake
BLACK EYE PEAS
its not mean
to have clollar greens
and some butter beans
don't smoke weaked
eat black eye peas
all is cool
for

THE
BEST FOOD
She sensibly shells purple peas
To fill the bowl between her knees.
She longs to flee the filth and sleaze,
And dreams of breezes in Belize.
Black-eyed peas and jasmine rice
Jerk chicken flavored
with cinamon spice and flakes
Oregano blend
End this meal with a
tall Rum punch
Yum!
it's like peanut butter and jelly
peas and carrots
cake and ice cream
cookies and cream
mashed potatoes and gravy
chicken and biscuits
you and me
Poetry and math - two peas in a pod.
Why then do you look at me so odd?
They’re both to discover and express
The simple truth beneath the mess.
Peas can be green, yellow or black
Often sweet, never sour
You can eat them at virtually any hour
Yet when finished, who is ever satisfied
Seven peas cooped up in a pod
Decided that there was no God
Along came the hog
That pooped on a dog
Peas pleased with their pod thought God odd!
In a pod not a boat
but pry yellow tee flags
red
did he say pea green
almost there
to the 8th
a couple more to the
forces of evil disappear
this is a treat
makes you eat
jump on your feet
you eat and sleep
so don't think twice
you will feel nices

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr.©2018
once an old dude from texas
ate twelve tacos for breakfast
he ate some with cheese
he ate some with peas
then he got sick from excess.
once a breadmaker named peas
his shop it smelled of stale cheese
so patrons complained
and a court arraigned
he'd open after a breeze.
its a food
that cool
thats a plant
some chant
to make it grow
that what the said before
so what ever you go
won't be please
eat
BLACK EYE PEAS
