Booby Traps

concealed
booby traps
hidden throughout
the interpersonal
land
meant to trick
the unsuspecting
passer by
spread out in order
to try and catch

Tonya's Tome

Her soul -- a panorama behind the pages -- offers casual glimpses, through word-peepholes, of edifice-in-construction. Based on individual choice, each passer-by may find a view totally unique.

Pierced Heart By Cupid Love At Last

i the angel Cupid
just in case your heart does breaks
my arrow pierced heart

gives a random chance
a fleeting passer by glance
shot love now at last

A Passer By

He sits rounded, like a stone
colours dripping with the rain
fading like an oil painting

His grimy hand outstretched
holding out a white cup
his very own white flag

My expensive leather shoes
thump the ground in time
trembling, eyes cast down

I scurry by

Walking the Dog

I had a dog that did not bark,
one day I took it to the park.
It stopped beside the plants
and started eating ants;
a passer by said "nice aardvark".

Smooth Sailing

This is the flow of Cynic wit,
But here, within, I tell no lies
Whom so patient to idly sit,
And observe the passer-by?
In the Night, like ships we pass,
A silent break in the waves me make
Frigid waters in iron-cast,
And in my Heart there sticks the stake!

*A nod to Poe :)

Dry Leaves

We wish to show our nice colors to all passer-by; they praise but with season change lost shine; none sees us. None cares for dry leaves on road, they trample us, same fate awaits; later stage they'll suffer too; fate spares none.

But a Pause

Aloft; hidden within the sky
Linger as to catch the eye
Whisper silent peace

Entertain a shining day
But a pause upon the way
Gentle wisp of fleece

Hidden to the passer by
Friend of silence; here I lie
Raised to be release

Through the hour, here I stay
Graced in light; a gentle ray
Ever held in peace

A Gift

A tiny blossomed flower amidst a flat and barren ground

It shimmy’s in the wind with no buffers or surrounds

A mornings limber stretch to greet the sun-filled sky

Offering a gazing gift to any random passer by

If only to be remembered when it’s persistence is through

It’s life of simple pleasure bestowed solely upon you

No Matter What You Say

no matter what you
say to the contrary you
will always keep on giving
me renewed opportunities
to reenter your world even
if they are very sort lived
the chance always exists
even when it may not appear
to be so to the untrained naked
eye of a passer by the chance
still exists and will continue to
exist through the knowing eye
of the two of us

Daft Shopping

While walking in the market one day
I started talking to a friend we had lots to say
Unmindful of whatever came before me
Kept walking somewhat straight with glee

Suddenly my forehead banged into a pillar
My hard lense fell off and the pain was a killer
Hooding one eye I looked for the lens but failed
A passer-by made a call to my son ,the problem was nailed

Muddy Walk

The pavement grabbed
At the feet of the passers-by
Who passed by the puddles
And the mud
To get to the taxi’s,
Who, like a string of dirty pearls
Were threaded by the muddy road
Where many a flattened toad
Stared intently at the sky

The pavement grabbed
And snatched an unsuspecting shoe
Of a passer-by
Who turned and cursed
Whilst many a flattened toad
Stared silently at the sky

The Circle of Life

Outside the circle of life I sit,
not knowing exactly where in it I fit...

I watch the circle go round and round,
not missing a beat sound for sound...

I watch it's flow and it's vibe,
it's humpping and bumpping it's so alive...

I wish I weren't afraid to go inside,
to brave the world and take that ride...

but since I am I'll just take my stand
right over here in passer-by land...

Dirt and Stones

The dirt and stones around his feet
Encrust the child’s skin
With tears creating smears of pain
Upon his fragile chin

He looks and begs for scraps of food
From every passer by
But they don’t see the small still child
His hand a reaching cry

For those who do not hear this child
They stride along life’s path
Their souls encrust the dirt and stones
With hearts that seek life’s wrath

Ask Her

Ask her to dance.
You can see the music in her eyes.
She moves like a butterfly.
You watch her like your in a trance
Just waiting for one utterance
Hoping nothing goes a wry.

Ask her to dance.
You can see the music in her eyes.

Could this be romance
In the air? Asks a passer by.
He answers. Could be by and by
But only if I take my chance
And ask her to dance
Will I see the music in her eyes.

Winter's Wish

Listen to poem:
I reached a hand
Into the snow
The chilly ice
Once vibrant glow

It's Winter's wish
A painful spree
The absent warmth
Of no degree

Although I try
To stay alive
Your touch confirms
No love could thrive

Until the crystals
Of your heart
Can beat a path
Back to the start

I'll leave a message
By transient hand
No passer by
Shall understand

A heart-shaped sign
To melt away
Perhaps to write
Another day..

Destitute

Clad in a white cloth and jacket
Spotless clean, wonder what magic she does
To keep so clean,
In a cluttered Pavement.
Wrinkled face elegantly attired with a smile
Eyes rise up to every passer by
Pleading but no cry uttered
Need not waste her words, as
Her stare is loud and clear
For many ears to stop by
Who can disregard her eyes that talk?

Mother, haven’t you had any one to call you “Love”?
Or you haven’t called any one “My love”?

I Am a Bitterweed

I enjoy turning the cow's milk sour
as they graze on me hour by hour
Simply because the farmers you see
Run their tractors straight over me!

I have sunset flowers of Yellow
And most of the time I'm mellow
I light up the fields for those passer by
And hear them exclaim, "Oh My Oh My

But out of respect I'll simply say
Enjoy my color and have a nice day!

Torn being

Dark clouds hang over space
With a heavy head , I sit desolate
A passer-by can tell by my stance
Or by a mere gaze at my face
That I have been beaten by the seasons
I bow my head and have a look at my hollow chest
To have a glimpse at the grey horizon
Behind my back
My weak knees support my elbows
As my frail fingers caress the fragile
Skin still holding my bones.
Why am I here, I ask my self,
For my whole being has been torn from me

Roses

The brilliant red of the roses
Touched by the morning dew
Beckons to the passer by
To stop, and enjoy the view.

Beside the other flowers
They really can't compare,
No one ever looks at them
But for the rose they stop and stare.

It's fragrance is superior
To any of the rest,
It's colour so enriching
When put to any test.

So when you gather roses
And your hands get scratched, and torn,
Remember beauty can be shallow,
Embedded with prickly thorns.

Fall In the Snow

FALL IN THE SNOW

Navigating deserted street , timorously,
Seems ok underfoot, so branch out a little.
No ice, just hard-packed snow.
Sidewalk looks white, innocent, safe.

Left foot treachery, collapse to port side
Like a tree felled at random
Or a ship torpedoed.
Lie still, winded and unsure of breakages

Try to catch breath.
Test leg, - ok. Lone passer-by offers hand
Pulls me to the surface.
Rooted again, step gingerly out once more.

Barbie Pink

Barbie pink with buxom breast
Spread across a bony chest
Thus recline on bentwood chair
As she unfurls her blended hair
A passer by
A darker night
A fleeting thought
A fairer sight
Marble eyes with curled strong lash
Stare glazed as plastic living naught
Wander him across the street
Breeze on skin this night has brought
A corner turn
A friend to greet
A moment in this life to cheat
Who will occupy that chair when Barbie pink’s no longer there?

The Search For Meaning

The green jungle moves, the infinite waves.
The beating of drums, the shuffling daze.
Shaman are drinking, psychedelic brew.
Falling into thought, where they are renewed.
The sun peeking through, makes love to the leaves.
Where the passer-by, has his own beliefs.
To accept the loss, was the intention.
But to be the loss, is loves invention.
A young girl looks up, with dirty face.
With hands together, asks me how to pray.
For once in my life, I had nothing to say!
