Premium Member Pickle Party

There was a pickle party
the pickles partied hearty
	wanted to embellish
	danced into a relish
well, aren’t they arty-farty

New Year

New Year’s came in with a bang
I had some drinks and did my thang
I partied so hard
My hair fell apart
And so, I started to sing

Premium Member Snow Drop Moonshine Septolet

Snow drop moonshine
     star threaded
           blanket;

       Partied hard;
        Squandered
         your light
 elevating in dreams.

Ring

The best man partied, then starts to sing
Not knowing that he'd dropped the ring
It was deep in the ground
And made such a weird sound
Like the siren song of a mermaid's king

Pig In the Poke.

“Pig in the Poke.”

There once was a pig that liked Cokes.
He usually partied; told jokes.
One day he woke up.
Drank mud from his cup.
Then, he choked; poor pig in the poke.

Premium Member A Lynching For Santa

Santa went out last night dressed as the Grinch.
Partied too much got into a tight pinch.
Woke with aching hangover.
Mrs. Santa, boil-over,
Bells ringing, threaten with deer's reins to lynch.

Dreams Glowing Brightly

Dreams wed forever partied in the park.
Hope's voice permeated life's freshest air.
Beloved friends, there rejoiced at love's spark.
The wedding guests adorned in formal wear.
Enjoying snacks and drinking way past dark
Oh sweet nostalgia, come again, so fair.
Beneath night-lights held tight by romance.
Couples glowing brightly, spinning…thoughts dance.

Premium Member Imagination

Standing at the edge of the bay, I imagine a watery grave where lie Remains of an old Spanish galleon Laden with silver coins encrusted Barnacles and unsalvaged treasure, Where once the buccaneers partied After a successful foray in a placid sea In those moments I dance a sarabande As my vivid imagination runs amok.

Where Once

I used to run on overdrive,
My energy unflagging;
But now, no matter how I strive,
Before the night, I’m dragging.

Where once I partied with the best
And did my share of drinking,
More often now I need a rest,
My “low on fuel” light blinking.

My younger days were filled with zeal
And Sousa-like parading;
Yet now, a nap holds more appeal…
My former self is fading.

Premium Member regretful son

You can go to blazes the angry son said
The next day his annoying father was found dead
Son regretted these final words all of his life
Never enjoyed another day, partied or took a wife

Others tried to sense some sense into him
They could not get through to sorrowful Jim
He was determined to punish himself the rest of his days
His life was in grayscale now, everything else a haze

Premium Member Pub In the Afternoon

Sitting alone in a crowd eating cheap Chinese became
No words… just birds
Whistling over the distant car hum,
The car hum from the street beat not a mile away.
And the soft music, the slow river, flat chair and hard bench
That’s been eaten off and partied on some other day.
A bike rider, street walker, jogger and car pass under the haze
Of a sky, I sigh
And the birds replace words.

Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Thatcher
thought no one could match her.
Her hair was laquered, never a mess;
she bought her knickers from M&S.

She did as she wanted to do -
and love her or hate her it's true -
she thought she was right,
ignoring the plight
of millions in the dole queue.

The poll tax was a big mistake;
her name was hated in its wake.
Replaced by Major, 'No,' she cried.
Some even partied when she died.

Haiku From a Hidden Cove

The ocean welcomes
Jubilant waves rush to greet
Like a dear, old friend

It is a gray day
Yet this small, secluded cove
Is colored with life

From towering cliffs
To effervescent tide pools
True beauty abounds

Stoic pelicans
Soar in orderly fashion
Patrolling the coast

The beach is littered
Pink seaweed, mussel shells, kelp
Nature’s partied hard

My toes in the sand
I rest on a driftwood log
Breathing poetry.
