Who's labeled it "rustic" and "chic"
All this rent is too steep
So I walk around town
Just to find a place to sleep
Be it yard, bridge, or overpass
I find a way to pass the time
Looking for some love on a dime...

for diving into smooth, calm waters hurts.
Being troubled is the backdoor key 
to unlocking the puzzle when you are in trouble.
Avoid the slip roads to the freeways 
or the overpass or the bypass bridge.

wait for the waters to be troubled,

Every scene filled with possibility;
You believe that anything can happen,

Too nervous to even speak
You showed up looking 
Like you were the bomb 
I try to say something but 
My tongue doesn't move
It just sends to my brain an utter
Sitting behind you your perfume 
Hits me like a brick off an overpass
Seven more minutes of bliss 
Eight if we get stuck at the light 
Six hours and forty-four minutes 
I get the same smell from behind

I'm just a blink when traffic is moving,
but more closely-eyed when cars go by slow.

Some pause in inquiry, wanting to know if I'm okay.
Others pull over and offer help to me,
to which I say,
I am fine.

They drive off bewildered,
pondering their comparative, comfortable lives.

They cannot understand why I do what I do.
To every person in every car that passes by,
I say,
I'm not sitting here for me,
