Under the Overpass

I am the man who sits under the overpass. I'm just a blink when traffic is moving, but more closely-eyed when cars go by slow. Some pause in inquiry, wanting to know if I'm okay. Others pull over and offer help to me, to which I say, I am fine. They drive off bewildered, pondering their comparative, comfortable lives. They cannot understand why I do what I do. To every person in every car that passes by, I say, I'm not sitting here for me, I'm sitting here for you.

Hi Scott, I enjoyed reading your poem. Unfortunately there are two kinds of people living on this planet. Those who have a conscience and those who don't. For the latter, I have my own thoughts and beliefs with regards to their behaviour. If you are interested, check out my page and poem titled: "Conned." Cheers Anne :-)

Thanks for reading and commenting, Anne. I did read "Conned" and was astounded at the vivid imagery it evoked. I then looked at your poem "My Favourite Place" and was delighted by the complete contrast of imagery in that work. I look forward to reading more of your poetry.
