It's sunset.
Shadows cast across my face,
blades of grass
as tall as an oak tree.
Closing my eyes,
they fall on darkness.
In the South New Jersey town of Stratford
grew a southern black oak tree.
It’s now a lifeless stump.
In the frozen arms of the old oak tree
A rustic birdhouse perches
Snow covered, forsaken

For Rick Parise's Kimo contest.
You need not
and in fact cannot
make an acorn
grow into an oak tree
however, happenstance
will help it to flourish.
feathers on her back
and fresh water in her bill
she flies so sweetly
swooping down from my oak tree
to say hi, I’m a cardinal.

Shreds of oak tree in faded gold
Drift on my life-scenes, wishes untold.
Crystalline Contest of Rick Parise
from Amelie Mara
Strong as an oak tree, she stood.
Facing the setting, summer sun.
Taunting the world to try it's best.
Nothing's bringing her down today.
Form:
As the aged
oak tree weeps
vibrant, autumnal gales
the mournful phase begins
as acorn teardrops
fall
So deeply in love,
Wondering what we will be,
Leaves swarm around us,
Standing under an oak tree,
We love in the autum leaves.
I left my languid thoughts cloaked in leaves
dreaming of you 'neath our oak tree.

something strange
has transformed me
in the middle of
the moonlight
sits an oak tree
that said
let my
branches
become your
vines
Shaggy bark oak tree...
Why are you shaggy?
Rough around the edges,
Slick cousins mock you.
Stand proud, elegant,
yet differently, wonderful!
Majestically stretching high
nude of leaf, its structure plainly seen

contest: Autumn Oak Tree
Bright firecracker fanning in bloom
snuggle down its leaves makes me feel gloom.

Sugar maple, foxglove, oak tree too.
Make beautiful shade for me and you
Is that a pear?
To the left, over there?
The buds on her are long overdue.
I carefully climb the old oak tree,
traipsing upon its extended limb.
Hold my breath, counting one, two, and three,
abandoning my perch for the swim.

From this tiny acorn
A mighty oak tree
Love in surge reborn
True nature set free

A birdfeeder hangs on the oak tree.
The sparrows all come there to eat free.
One day a Blue Jay,
Chased them all away.
The Hawk said “Hooray” dinner for me!
My Dear Ms. Teagan
Oak tree I saw that was tall;
Leaves fell from it in the fall;
Big and bold,
Even though old;
Under did play with my doll.

we carved a heart
in an old oak tree
just the initials
for you and me
the tree still stands
the heart still there
but the love has vanished
into thin air
