Nuzzled
Nuzzled in the splints of light
that turn to neon felt tipped butterfly mist
of the street light hugging night...

A cute girl fell for me named 'Cookie'
Who asked me to play this game, 'Nookie'
  She nuzzled up to me
Which caused me to flee ~
Cookie'd picked an innocent rookie...

Schackled the child cast in shame
by a father's disapproval.

Clipped the fledgling un-nuzzled
by an indifferent mother.

Brave the neglected one and
miraculous her recovery

climbing with effortful feet
the mountain to sun and stars.

Reborn
Slipping in between
The faded lines of time
A veteran of the illusion
Reality fades
Slipping into oblivion. Slave
To the ever changing
Chaos storm. Living
Without form. Waiting
Again to be born
Nuzzled
Warm
Wrapped in the hand of god
The soul
Secure
Ready to be
Reborn

To Yearn
Long, how the warm winds blow
Entwined in rich almond tusks
Goodness sets her gaze
Nuzzled amongst the cherry blossom
And early morning's blaze

Known, a free flown falcon
Rising without the clouds
Abreast to the horizon's
Daring red feathered chest

Yearn and I shall yearn
Melt, for fierce passions burn...

Valentine’s Day Night 1959

Curiously with a
slant of his face
my chin turned up
and then the embrace.

A teenaged kiss in
in his best friend’s car
while Johnny Mathis sang,
“Chances Are”

So close, so close
as I nuzzled his cheek
he whispered “I love you”
can we do this next week?

Neelde Garden
In the end of everything I watch the fire
eat the bricks cement blocks perspire
not noticing the temperature has gotten higher
while endlessly escaping the mobs desire
the gothic spire dissappears into the clouds chest
hanging dead in the sky with no shroud fixed
in a world of giants you're small as a mouse is
one needle nuzzled in a garden of thousands...

How Gray
Your heart
is no longer pink and plump
bearing frailty
like before

it's grown thick and weathered
contemplating mine, perhaps (how gray)

or maybe my fears
have all nuzzled themselves
in the navel of your benevolence
for far too long now

I wouldn't know
words have never hummed
so softly

P.S. I'm so sorry
if my love made you old
and made me foolish...

Premium Member The Path of a Doe
The path of a doe crossed that of a fawn
who nuzzled up to her ere break of dawn

They lay down together, limbs wrapped 'bout each other
No one would guess they were not babe and mother

Sun's golden rays soon broke through the trees
Slipping once, the fawn rose to her knees

Rubbing up 'gainst the doe, the fawn was off with a leap
Ne'er again to meet, the doe paused to weep...

The Kitten’s Purr She ran into a dream. Twisted vines clung to gnarly-faced trees. Wavering wisps wandered the fields. Beads of sweat formed in the darkness. Tears trickled through shuttered eyes. Soft orange fur nuzzled her back. A gentle purr calmed her heart eased her through the darkness into a Kitten’s dream. ©9/26/2017 submitted to -IMAGE ME A POEM – poetry contest

Premium Member Plunged Into Sleep
as the hen settled down on her eggs
and the burro brayed his last bray
the moon slowly rose in the sky
fulsome and round to the eye

sated calves nuzzled up against udders
while fillies snuggled into their mothers
lambs curled up beside sheep
the world had plunged into sleep

yet denizens of the dark kept on going
  internal time clocks never slowing
night crawlers dancing 'til dawn
miles from the doe and her fawn...

Premium Member The Collie She'D Heard Of
Alone in the forest
    at the mercy of sound
  no lean-to for shelter, nor
bed of leaves on the ground

  wind cracks through the brambles
    rain’s icy fingers reach in
  to magnify doubts and concerns
    of faraway kith, distant kin

when of a sudden the collie
    she’d heard of appeared
  nuzzled up to her and
    with that ~ disappeared

~watching You Fall~
I watched you slink
lower into numbing coat,
where warmth just boils
away any residue of respite,

saw how your smile
developed MD,
drooping like torn flesh,

and no matter how often
those three words
nuzzled, you still held
that shroud so tight;

are you dying my twin?

Your eyes seem to have found
a place where nobody goes,
somewhere stuck in a moment
halfway between us,
and silence mutes me
with all the things unsaid

while you wrap yourself
in tainted conclusions....
