A teenaged kiss in
in his best friend’s car
while Johnny Mathis sang,
“Chances Are”

eat the bricks cement blocks perspire 
not noticing the temperature has gotten higher
while endlessly escaping the mobs desire
the gothic spire dissappears into the clouds chest
hanging dead in the sky with no shroud fixed
in a world of giants you're small as a mouse is
one needle nuzzled in a garden of thousands...

The path of a doe crossed that of a fawn
    who nuzzled up to her ere break of dawn

  They lay down together, limbs wrapped 'bout each other
    No one would guess they were not babe and mother 

  Sun's golden rays soon broke through the trees
    Slipping once, the fawn rose to her knees

  Rubbing up 'gainst the doe, the fawn was off with a leap
    Ne'er again to meet, the doe paused to weep...

She ran
into a dream.
Twisted vines clung
to gnarly-faced trees.
Wavering wisps
wandered the fields.
Beads of sweat
formed in the darkness.
Tears trickled
through shuttered eyes.
Soft orange fur
nuzzled her back.
A gentle purr
calmed her heart
eased her
through the darkness
into a Kitten’s dream.

shyness sheltered

purr of laconic

loneliness of
an only child

Alone in the forest
    at the mercy of sound
  no lean-to for shelter, nor
    bed of leaves on the ground

  wind cracks through the brambles
    rain’s icy fingers reach in
  to magnify doubts and concerns
    of faraway kith, distant kin

  when of a sudden the collie
    she’d heard of appeared
  nuzzled up to her and

I watched you slink
lower into numbing coat,
where warmth just boils
away any residue of respite,

saw how your smile
developed MD,
drooping like torn flesh,

and no matter how often
those three words
nuzzled, you still held
that shroud so tight;

are you dying my twin?

Your eyes seem to have found
a place where nobody goes,
somewhere stuck in a moment
halfway between us,
and silence mutes me
with all the things unsaid

while you wrap yourself
in tainted conclusions....
