Premium Member Serene Countenance

You have nerves of steel, like everyone wants.
I admire your casual nonchalance.
A falling piano could not erase
the serene countenance on your face.

Premium Member You Could Be a Bus Driver

Hey, you could be a bus driver!
And do you have nerves of steel?
Can you drive while people scream?
Are you awake at five?
Do children mind you?
Do you love kids?
Hooray!

Heavy burdens they bare,
Hearts thrive on showing care.
Heads strong with nerves of steel.
Help many a hurt heal.
Heroic yet humble
Have no cause to stumble.
Heroes - not all wear capes!

Premium Member Let Him Explain

She wore uncertainty on her shoulder
    hesitation held back her shoes
  Twitches split her left forearm
these emotions seeped into their news

  Let him explain, she considered
nerves of steel need not preparation...
In the pit of a parental boardroom
one word ~ eloped ~ sealed their doom

Nerveless Neil

A man from Ohio called Neil *
Was known for his calm nerves of steel.
So when, out in space,
Darth Vader gave chase,
He said 'Cool it, guys,no big deal!'

* Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio and was renowned for keeping cool under pressure.
* Darth Vader for non Star Wars fans is an iconic villain

Classic Grumblings

The piano grumbled at his touch,
Playing fortissimo on command...
Nerves of steel snapping a string.

Ambitious to a fault, practicing the night into alarm,
Lizst spilled from the printed page
Like sour milk for a feral cat.

As he rose from the bench, music in hand,
An audible whispered relief rustled the curtains
And silence cradled the grateful room.

Above the Grand Canyon

I watched Wallenda walk the wire;
My heart was in my mouth.
I hoped that he’d stay east or west
And wouldn’t end up south.

I’m sure his nerves of steel were frayed
And though he risked his life,
I worried just as much for him
As I did for his wife.

For watching from the ground, I think
That we would all agree,
Those minutes must have felt, to her,
Like an eternity!

South African Snake Catchers

Catching snakes has to be done
When they are in the city each one
There is a couple of tattooed people
On television in South Africa showing their mettle

Black mambas, Cobras, Spitting Cobras each done
Would have the potential to kill when their biting is done
Not my cup of tea to do this sort of thing
With nerves of steel that they do bring.

Project of Man

An advanced man in his time
feelings tamed everything adjusted
intricacies tucked away in pockets
there was no fur, it was all in leather
nerves of steel, heart of iron
had a golden health
silver thoughts,
did not bear children,
only manufactured them
He didn't have love, he had possession
stopped being people, to be
a project... !
It was lived in pure hapiness, because happiness
he simply bought
in the market !

Premium Member Poetry's a Tough Business

Poetry's a tough business, you know
Each new poem reinvents the wheel
Staring at a blank page takes nerves of steel
'Rest on your laurels?' -- You'll have nothing to show

I've heard that writing poems is an escape
But why flee something easy to do
Like nuclear physics or perfecting Kung Fu
Let the scoffers try to get into 'poetry shape'

As for me, I'm off for a round of pre-poetry drills
~ So my pen is primed to deliver thrills and chills!

Love To Hate

Clearly I understand nothing
so I am told.
I destroy all in my path
they say as they scold.
You are selfish at best, and evil.
I shall always win for I never fold
I push on through the pain with intent
for when I was born I broke the mold.
Static as thick as mile is long
is the magnet which keeps me on hold.
I am a real live one I am truly
a hellion in leather strong and bold,
with nerves of steel and a spine of tin.
My vengence is like ice
I am the one they love to hate
