May Day
Children are celebrating
Because spring is in the air
Dancing around the maypole
Donning flowers in their hair
Enjoying Earth’s new rebirth
Spring’s artwork on display
Birds are vibrantly singing
From the excitement of May Day...

Life As a Maypole
Life is a maypole
Where is that pole?
Life is a maypole
Where is that goal?
Life is a maypole
Where is the flicker?
Life as a maypole
Why do we toil?
Life as a maypole
What's my role?
Life as a maypole
Make that call, it's never late...

A Day In May
She smiled to hear the merry sound
as Morris dancers pranced around;
her foot now tapping to the drum,
she felt so glad that she had come
to see the Carnival of May
and Maypole-dance her cares away!
written 6th May for Andrea's May lay contest...

A Day In May
One day in May, the shadowed oak -
the lovey-doveyness, it spoke.
Its foliage in zephyr rush.
of coquette prettiness; it’s blush.
Under God’s eye, unseen choir brings
a lofty cheeriness with wings,
a maypole merriment of tweets,
its honey biz of plaited beats....

Maypole
Painted sky cascades down to touch
a green velour carpet.
Green Man asks for a dance and an elated crowd
engages the maypole.
As young leaves stretch tips to grasp sunlight
newly birthed buds yawn.
Gaia beams with pride;
another birthday for her children brings boundless joy....

Life Is Like a Maypole
The pole stands long and sturdy
at the village centre old
the ribbons lay afloat
red,blue,green and white
some bright and others light
of which people grasp and frolick.
Life is like a maypole
varied paths to take
happiness and sad times
of which it is a part
either vibrant or bland
we hold on no matter what.

The New Leader
Too many
flags flying overhead
Too much
false patriotism
There is a deeper optimism
which we can realize
if you look
into the soul
of our
200 year old country
life
blooms
on the
other side ot the
fence
yes, let's dance
around a maypole
For you see,
it's time to
win
the battle
for AMERICA...

Queen of May
Joyful singing and laughing people dancing,
Celebrating around the maypole, clapping,
First of May and the Morris Men are prancing,
Partytime and the music’s so toe tapping.
Birthday girl, you are crowned with pretty flowers,
Ev’ry May is your month, come sun or showers,
Fairies gather as dusk is slowly falling,
Mayday feasting is always so enthralling.

A Song To May
May, we, with joy, do a Maypole dance!
And all lovely birds fly and sing!
After all, it is, delicious Spring.
And all lovers kiss in pure floral bliss!
Swimming in fresh, verdant, flowing
springs.
Lost, yet found, in loves meanderings.
Let butterflies gleefully waltz as they may!
And free, maskless children , run and play.
In our God’s sweetest month, of May.

Life Is Like a Maypole
Life is you and me
holding hands
while the earth go's around
each of us you see.
life is like a maypole
if we are strong at heart
with family or friends
we always stick together
until the very end.
life is like a maypole
a simple smile will do
to get each of us through.
life is you and me
no matter what your problem is
don't let go,
just go with God flow-- because
life is like a maypole...

Life Is Like a Maypole
I'll weave my thoughts into dreams of glory.
Just maybe I'll inspire with my story.
This journey long on a pebbled road.
Still the view makes light this uphill load.
Now I see skies of azure blue.
Plenty of beauty to see me through.
Come with me and promenade.
Step out from the gloomy shade.
We shall skip to a brand new beat.
No desolation or defeat.
Fingers of joy cascade from above.
A marvelous dance of genuine love!

May Day Back In the Day
Back in the day we had a maypole on May Day
We created May baskets out of doilies and construction paper
I loved adding bits of ribbon, aluminum foil and glitter.
We decorated them like Valentines boxes.
Filled them with tiny candies popcorn and violets.
It was fantastically fabulous, and I loved it!
Why did I have maypoles and May baskets?
Was it because I lived in a small town? Was it because of my mother?
Was it because we knew all of our neighbors back in the day?...

The Speaker of the House
Saying to them, I know that you wish to sell unto myself
Your chrysalis cures modern day vaccines maypole moments
Amid white diamonds and mascara, visions ? But, I really hate sin so
Pawn it to one another is what I thought in recycled to speak yet
Let the weeds be and write it in a bill to push unto these networks ? Tossing
My cigarette upon the ground and downing a beer as I smiled then added
Thanks for the promotion; while I pulled up my sleeve and mainlined their malaria....

Life Is Like a Maypole
The ring of the sun
Spring to their steps young mayflies
Singing and flinging their love
To rainbow streamers
Prancing and capering elves
And frisky kittens of earth

Master Weaver
Master Weaver weaves a life for with care for every thread
First one strand is woven, sometimes white and sometimes red
Way up and down our life goes much like a Maypole dance
Though it has been planned before, we think it’s all by chance
When new things come our way we decide which way to go
Over or under were speeding round and round we sew
With us He weaves a pattern seen just when life is done
Weaving us a wedding gown the glory of the Son...

May Day
Oh, the memories of yesteryears
Many were filled with happy tears
Unaccompanied by painful fears
Laughter and chatter filled our ears
Time must not be allowed to steal
Those sacred times that also heal
Those years spent with childhood peers
Like a May Day plaiting of the Maypole
Such thoughts of yesteryears never grow old
Although growing old with hairs turning gray,
I am warmed and embraced this quiet morning,
as I think about the upcoming first of May.
