Life Is Like a Maypole

The pole stands long and sturdy
at the village centre old
the ribbons lay afloat
red,blue,green and white
some bright and others light
of which people grasp and frolick.

Life is like a maypole
varied paths to take
happiness and sad times
of which it is a part
either vibrant or bland
we hold on no matter what.
