Marines
An aspiring marine
is assuredly green,
but he's not as much green
as a drowned marine.

Marines
The brave and the proud,
They stand out in the crowd,
They protect all our family and friends.
Their reputation lives on,
The few and the strong,
I'm proud to call one of them dad....

Premium Member I Have Never Done This Before
I was astounded to find myself teaching paratroopers how to jump.
I honestly have never done this before! I said. My voice sounded whiney.
A plane full of handsome young marines laughed in unison.
The impetuous I needed to wake up. Marines don’t laugh....

Placebo Wars
?
Why
are
Marines
and Army
Soldiers fighting in
Afghanistan and
Iraq, against the Taliban and the Al Qaida
Against an enemy who hides in the mountains, who once ruled by intimidation
We are not winning these wars, we are merely a placebo, being injected into an infection
of radicals, when will it end...

Bagram Airfield July 2010
bagram airfield july 2010

hushed ether of morning
huddled guardian warriors, arms aligned
early call to prayer sounds the blood to chill
arrives the entry check point white linen under issued desert garb
a steely eyed airman quick witted and quicker with sidearm
all hell breaks loose and all age 30 years in one hot minute...

Sunrise beach walkin'
no need for talkin'
when elements transcend all language.

My hand in your hand hold
seashells unswept by calm
receding tide
still swelling.

Burnt umbers stroke aqua
marines break through gull
wing thunder haloed
in hallowness.

No space for shallowness
much less for callowness
hope for tomorrow struts sure gently
proffered, dawn's break of night.

He may have joined the marines...
because of a sense of patriotism and duty
running deep in the fabric of familial DNA...
or maybe it was the only means of escape
from generational poverty -drugs and gangs
...none but the newely purple hearted can really say.

but when i look at the awkward air
where there once was a limb
i can say for certain that he earned his freedom
more than most of us did....

The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse

Splash amidst plethora hullabaloo,
Dark skies reflecting illuminate,
Act beacons, vigilant navigators,
Mask lighthouse's glistening magnificence,
Guides marines, bewildered mystifying,
Roars rise , evanesce scintillation,
Deep ocean heritage disparages,
Waves erode abyssal operations !

The "speech" should have been on Halloween.
His props were a garish blood red backdrop.
Flanked by two concrete stiff marines.
This scarecrow of a president (who bellows about unity).
Just threatened to unleash F17'S on half the US citizens.
Because they don't think like him.
Will he even remember what he said?
His brain is about the size of a pumpkin seed.

For making terroristic threats against the U.S citizens...
he should be impeached-...

One of our brave marines languishes in a Tijuana jail,

Sufferin' inhumane treatment, sans the right of bail!

Ain't it ironic that America treats illegals like welcome guests,

While our "neighbors" to the south treat our folks like inferior pests!

If I was runnin' things here is what I would damn well do:

I'd send in Seal Team Six to teach those thugs a thing or two!

Only a Letter a Way , They Say
I can't sleep at night cause I'm stuck in fear
It's impossible to think soon you might not be here ..
Everyday we spent together was wonderfully reckless it seemed
All we had done was dreamed
We dreamed about the future & our good life
But now the thought of the up coming years feels like pain from a sharp knife
you see this as what's best for us & that's what I hope to believe
But your pursuit of the Marines has made my love want to leave...

There always have those who are annoying;
With this thought and Idea I am now toying;
Never need coin,
For you to join;
Everyone a church they can be enjoying.

These Boys, Now Men
These Boys, Now Men **
They died with pride on a numbered
hillside for they were Marines.
These boys, now soldiers,
taught not meek hand-holders,
taught how to fight
growing up overnight,
these boys, now men.
In a pointless strife
giving up life
these boys, now men.
What is now, what was then,
Heroes, all of them.

Through the Eyes of a Marine
As the Marines push forward as if to shrug feigning indifference for the lives that have been taken to the god of which they believe to be unforgiving all they can do is push forward and move to their already known perilous fate and meet death face to face and dance with the devil and once this happens their mission has become complete because all you can do as a Marine is sweat Crude Oil And Bullets

The Dead Remember Everything
The dead remember everything
The living have forgotten
Except in dreams of kings and queens
And lost marines who joined as teens
To help and keep our honor clean
From those who plot and make up schemes
Because they think they are supreme
While truth denotes they’re just extreme
And wish to tear to smithereens
Our children’s, children’s hopes and dreams
Though they might plot out wild schemes
I’ll not succumb to what they want
Or yield to their regime...

Premium Member Missed
You are the first thing
I think of when I wake.

The sky outside is blue,
But I pray it is bluer for you.

If there is rain…?,
May it water the flowers,
closest to where you walk.

Storms, violence and war,
My heart lingers in prayer
here…
for “your” every breath.

Come home soon.
You are missed.
We are broken,
and…less without you.

Your family,
Your friends,
Those that know … You,
lift you, think of you,
Pray… for you.

Amen....

Premium Member At Least Four Marines Too Many
What have we done?
What have we said?
What’s left to do?
When dead means DEAD.

Where do they go?
Where can they be?
Living a life in peace where free means free.

Humanity has failed the Afghans and yet
The power of the west sits on the hands of intent.

Demons hover over their shoulders
Demons with the sharpest of knives.

If we don’t let our soldiers do what they can do, we may never, ever lose this regret no matter how we sell each other the lies....

Over Color Desert
From the coiffe broken of light
or dead tie-the marines
by machine pip-out target upper
by the road —
through demolish the tools that
throve mats up for peace
it took the leash by the saw
the gloss of the desert thy help
in confront, any astir enemy
watchful been fielding —
the gloss that regrets
of course a soul matter,
the hero-the weapon
in avail words of freedom
carry it clearly over the esteem
by gloss of the desert
Or peace insures the earth....

Tim Mccravey, Usmc
I have a great friend and his name is Tim McCravey.
He joined the Marines instead of the Army or Navy.
He bravely fought in the Persian Gulf War.
It's people like him who Americans are thankful for.

During the war, I wrote to him and he sent me twenty bucks.
Anybody who has Tim for a friend, has plenty of luck.
He and I were friends thirty years ago and we're still friends today.
It's very nice to know that he's patriotic to the USA.
