Like a leprechauns butch haircut,
the daffodils pierce
March’s maple blanketed bed.
Hidden gold at the end of a spring rainbow.
spotted burclover
miniature three leaf blossoms
decorate meadow
leprechaun friendly
is that his little top hat
i kneel closer
Rainbows,
colorful bridges arched across
misty skies.
Leading to where
leprechauns
hid pots of
gold.
A leprechaun bearded and old
Was packing a pipe as he told
At the rainbow's end
He said to me friend
They are after me pot of gold
Track: D12 - Purple Hills
you have a boo boo?
May pixies sprinkle it with kindness
Divorce in the family?
I shall send in the gnomes.
Family death?
nurturing leprechauns better bring more than gold.
At the end of a rainbow
Leprechauns see gold
My brother sees video games
My father sees music
And me?
I see pencils
Yellow pencils
Yet what do the rich see?
The lonely?
A treasure trove so we are told
atop a clover grove will behold
a green fortune you seek
when a leprechauns mystique
is your forgotten pot of gold

Limerick contest
I met this lady named Susan McGrew
who loved Irish whiskey through and through,
on St. Patty's Day she drank,
her mind went completely blank...
she now has tiny leprechauns -- two!
A lady named Sue loved St. Patrick's Day
and marched in a parade that holiday,
after eight whiskey shooters
she showed her tattooed hooters...
those two smiling leprechauns led the way!
haggling a huckster’s horse trade
ignoring imaginary ideas of Iodine’s
joyful jubilant jabbering jabberwocky
kibitzing kickapoo kindnesses toward Kelly
lambasting Lilliputin leprechauns leaving Larry
Leprechauns lurk in the wood,
cackling and doing no good -
drinking and counting up gold,
even flashing at fairies, I'm told.

Green leprechauns already know
There's zilch at ends of a rainbow
So to own and hold
Pots of silver and gold
Is the way to have lots of dough
Author's note: The color of leprechauns is significant here!
Rainbow
Takes breath away,
It holds your soul hostage,
A heart-felt magical journey
Unicorns, leprechauns, gold pots appear
Childhood memories flood you
Joyful exuberance,
You breathe and smile
Rainbow
GOOD LUCK, SAM
Shamrocks with green eggs and ham.
Resistance from Sam I Am.
If you offer him gold,
he won’t see the mold.
Leprechauns roar at the sham.

Kim Merryman’s Luck of the Irish Limerick Contest
Where do leprechauns find gold?
Shillelagh
Where do they grant you a wish?
Shillelagh
Where is the rainbow’s twist?
Shillelagh
What will a leprechaun cane you with?

The sun's shining brightly, what could possibly go wrong
The birds in the trees are singing life's old sweet song
The world is in rhyme
At least in my mind
It's really up to us, dance around like leprechauns
Youngest leprechaun intern was a mere boy of eleven
He was tiny though, did not look much older than seven.
Had a wide smile, and a jaunty way about him, was fun too.
He will do, the leprechauns of old said, Oh, yes, he will do!
Life takes on a vibrant zing,
For we're marching into Spring,
Viridescent splashes seen,
Flowers refresh and leprechauns preen.

For Andrea Dietrich's "March In" contest
cherished clover green
coronet topped purple plume
search out the four-leafed sprite
eye to lawn outspread
taste of bee sweet blossom red
leprechauns key find
pressed between pages
still lucks’ keepsake enclosed
more sought than the rose
From St. Patrick's pent horses to out horse
She rode St. Patrick's day wild horses
Through leprechauns and lucky Joe's of course
She rode her horses well
Every horse loved her swell
In came a pony changing the concourse
connie pachecho

Sun has set now.
Under full moon
Many excited fairies
Marching together
Encircle fairy tree.
Revelry begins.
Solstice night.
Offering thanks.
Leprechauns join in.
Song and dance.
The fiddlers prance
In and out among
Caotic scenes of
Energetic shenanigans.

Do Leprechauns Exist
Want to know if Leprechauns do exist?
Put out a trap to attract them like this
On Saint Patrick’s Eve
Bake dozens of these
Biscuits that look like gold nugget snippets.

Pursuing the imagination reveals creative bliss,
Where nothing is beyond belief and never amiss
In the land of faeries, leprechauns, and such
Wonders to be seen where one must not touch.

[dedicated to Caren Krutsinger,
Poetry Soup poetess]
A baby boomer, late bloomer, at times a doom and gloom er.
Eats blueberries, says Hail Mary's, believes in leprechauns and fairies.
Works on commission, has good nutrition, too impatient to ever go fishing.
Sings in C, off key but always very happily.
Never a stoic, brave and heroic. Lately feeling mesozoic.
Talk
Urban myths,
He said, she said.
Truth or fiction,
Gossip fills the air.
Assumptions and accusations,
Make believe truths.
A little pixie throws fairy dust,
Leprechauns stir the pot.
The Jone's thrive on chaos,
Their skeletons locked up tight.
Hot today, forgotten tomorrow,
Life carries on....
