that comical face
watching me – so unconcerned
while tabby looks on

every morning at dawn

Premium Member Prof Indiana Kibble Kat
Indiana Kibble Kat was the kind of a professor that….
Taught us about adventure with a tip toe tat.
Regaling us with stories pulled out of his hat
Amazing us with his pet vampire bat.
We never had a better teacher than Professor Kat....

a quick glimpse of something
I run to get a closer look
red cardinal on railing
eyeing cat's kibble on porch table
dribble of rain smears the view
grass wears green brilliantly
lone sunshine yellow soldier of daffodil
April smiles at me through her showers...

Premium Member We Three Cats of Halloween Are
We three cats of Halloween are
Bearing kibble, we travel so far
Yield and mountain, meow and fountain
Following a witch’s star

Oh…. Moon of wonder, circle so bright
Moon with royal Jack-o-lantern light
Eastward leading, still conceding
Guide us to thy perfect sight...

Premium Member Dogs Play Pool With a Crafty Cat
A bulldog, spaniel and terrier played a game of pool.
Relieving me of my money and kibble. I felt like a fool.
They saw my T-bone and started to be salivating a drool.
I offered to trade them for the kibble, trick kind of cruel.
The T-bone had been enchanted by a devilish ghoul.
Never trust a Maine coon cat is a very good dog rule....

Too Hot For Pizza
Daydreams curdle in a summer heat.
He walks back from the park
dragging a wandering mind behind him
like an elderly dog.

The day gets warmer
he sends out for a margarita pizza,
wonders if lately
he has been dancing too closely
with sidewalk walking ghosts.

When the take-out arrives
it tastes as dry as kibble pie -
refried daydreams bark on....

Premium Member Fat Fluffy Field Mouse and Me
I believe in reincarnation more today than I ever have.
So when I spy a fat fluffy field mouse enjoying cat food,
I stamp my feet, encouraging her to run off.
She does not flinch, budge or stop devouring her treat.
Her tiny paws holding a kernel of Kibble like I hold my chips.
I say “Hi Dad,” knowing I am not going to hurt this creature.
I am in her world, outside, she is not in mine....

Premium Member Morning Prayer
When I’ve a bit of attitude,
my Missy teaches gratitude.
At every meal, she salivates;
wagging her tail, she cleans her plate.
Do I pant such for thee, O Lord?
Or only when I can afford
some spare coin on a Sunday morn,
forgetting the high cost you’ve born.
Be gentle, Lord, and by your grace,
remind me that you’ve set a place
A banquet, no mere kibble there:
Forgive and draw me near, my prayer....

Premium Member Tasty Cat Kibble
Cardinals swoop in
Snatching tiny crunchy stars
Up in their beaks

Those little brownish red stars
Must be tasty I think
But I am not going to try them

Robin appears next
Gives me a careful scolding
Snatches one up and gives me her tail.

The cat and I look at each other.
It’s your foot I tell her
Goading her.

Shark makes his way
Toward a fat blue jay
Who has just flown in for a bit of kibble....

Premium Member Cat Food Critic
That is a persnickety pussycat someone said.
She eats daintily with forethought, fork close to her head.
She wields a knife in the best technique of all.
Stabbing her fish with pizzazz and timely gall.

She is a food critic, she has wily wide ways.
Tasting our kibble and bits with tartar sauce glaze.
We see her doing it, and we cringe, waiting for her critique.
As a food critic goes, her reviews are harsh and unique....

Premium Member tabby in winter
Tabby in winter, with a tuft of snow on your head
You got slammed when they came down on that sled
If you get buried, it may be quite a little while
Before we can save you, St Bernard said with a smile

Then he noticed that there were Bernards on her scarf
How bad could she be? He told his friends with an arf.
Tabby in the snow glared at all of those happy dogs.
They ate up her chocolate kibble like untrained old hogs....

Premium Member Seven Cats Kept Ovations Going
The old lady used to dance “back in the day”.
You are not that old said her tom cat gray.
The other cats agreed and said they would help.
She was so excited, she fed them kibble kelp.

The cats began dancing and were light on their paws.
The ravens in the belfry gave them an ovation with caws.
The old lady thought it was all for her and danced the night away.
Seven cats took a bow, and kept ovations going until the next day....

Premium Member Cats Clean My Kitchen
Cats clean the kitchen in a haphazard way
Leaping and jumping about on this fine Saturday
But why do you hire them? Asks a dog with a mission.
Because they are independent, do not ask permission.

Their mothers and dads do not know what they are about.
So, they can come in and clean, using cleaner and Shout.
They do not like money at all, it only costs me in kibble.
And they scare all the mice, so my cheese rarely has a nibble....

Premium Member Dry Bone Beach
it is a lazy, warm, dog day afternoon on dry bone beach
some dogs come in wearing pinks, yellows, and peach
we check them in and give a bowl of kibble to each.
It is the least we can do, for empathy is what we teach.

dogs line their umbrellas in a line up and down the beach.
some of the small ones do not have an extra long reach
So they do not like volleyball, which we sometimes teach
But the big dogs love playing this on dry bone beach...

Premium Member Pouring the Kibble
Eleven personable cats are living in a house with me
Meow Meow Meow Where is the food, old tired lady?
I go get the kibble, come back and what do I see?
Smart ones are in line with open mouths, meowing at me.
The others are either not as hungry, or not aware. I'm not sure which.
Some of them are chasing each other, one's eye has a twitch.
I sprinkle the kibble, and as it hits their aluminum bowls,
They run toward me with the happiest of kitten souls....

Premium Member Forever Friends
Forever friends we are and will always be said the white rat.
This was news to the faerie, but he was nicer than her old cat.
I can get you kibble, lettuce, bits of bacon, or other treats she said.
Just a bit of peanut butter please, the white rat quickly said.

But do not put in in one of those snappy things, please.
And I might ask your for a tiny bit of limburger cheese.
He was an easy pet, and fun in a variety of ways.
She taught him to boogie, and he taught her glaze clays....
