There was a young lady named Tulip
Who sipped on a tasty mint julep
As the moon rose
And glittered her toes
She thanked her Great God with her two lips.
Between sips of Julep
birdsong wafts in the air;
busy bees and countless
butterflies abound on
blossoms of buddleia.
But me? I fall into
blissful torpid languor.
Skimming the backyard lake water with eyes bent on adventure
while knowing that alligator eyes are skimming shore just for me

When those blackberries of memory drop
from your windows of Summer crushed fresh
as a julep against your flawed wintry grounds
collect them in your minted cup and raise a toast
to what was and what will be

jaunty jack-o-lantern joined
jingly jangly janitors’ July jamboree
jaundiced Jasper, Jack’s jackhammer
juggled and jostled the journey in jovial jollity.
Jovial Jukebox Julep juxtaposed Jasper and Jack’s
jonquils, joining the July Jubilee
Javelin, a jazzy jaybird, jangled Judy’s jaguar,
who jabbered jokingly and jauntily.
Love splash baby -
You bring me abundant joy.
Such beauty – such wisdom;
Do inhabit my dear Buttercup.
Love splash baby -
Oh don’t you be so coy.
Much respect – much knowledge;
You so instill in this grown-up.
Love splash baby -
Mommy loves her little Viceroy.
Such prosperity – such peace;
Abound within my little Julep.
The heat weighs the air down.. down...
it say shoosh~ it seemed to steam
as it wafted from white sand to damp the blue skies.
Long green frond's stir the scene mint in a julep glass.
Quiet invades each opened pore at high noon
as the froth of salt foam caresses toes
and hollows the sand beneath
somnambulant sun worshipers.
Gulls circle in silence
as beads of sweat roll from forehead
between the mounds of Aphrodite...
into the navel of longing.
