Pendulum of Life
living in boredom
soul screams for activity
turmoil requires rest
happy mediums
exist in cloud cuckoo land
life's pendulum swings
enjoy all the ups
enjoy the extremities
enjoy all the downs

Death's Release
life's journey over
wisdom of maturity
misleading visage
life's vessel aging
bodily functions failing
dignity stolen
life's journey annulled
reasons for living expired
death's release wanted

Name Shame - Bawdy Word Play
Guest speaker was Mr Shaw-Twilley
I guffawed, his surname’s so silly
I slipped him a fiver
To say my name’s Ivor
It sounded like I’ve a Short willy
N B Shaw-Twilley is a real surname!

I See Me
Said me to I, if you don’t try
to see me as I do
then I may not
see me the same
as I would wish me to.
Said I to me, yes I agree
to see me as I do
I wish that you
and me would see
the same as I do too.

Soulmates
Soulmates born of ethereal time
never break the silver line
that unifies their souls as one
even when a lifetime's run
Forever in each other's care
nothing can divide the pair
who share a love that's meant to be
united in eternity......

Knowing Me
Ask me about the things I wear,
not on my skin or in my hair.
But those I wear upon my soul
and form the essence of my whole.
These questions tell you who I am
but listen not with ears of man.
But wear my answers on your soul
if sharing truly is your goal.

Time Passes
Time passes slowly
when you’ve nought to do
or bound by restrictions
that you can’t break through.
When frantically busy
you scream out for peace
and wish that seclusion
would give you release.
But when you’re secluded
the turmoil is pain
and frantically wish
you were busy again!

Making Way
Making Way
When blown by winds to places far
good sailors tack to true their way,
but fighting tempest, gales and storms
they seek safe harbour for the day.
The choice of when to anchors weigh
or when to hoist your sails to roam
can be the difference making way
to lands that welcome sailors home.

Open Pit
Heaven quakes as death draws near
As Halloween bring back its fright,
Lifting the veil where demons spawn
Lets Hell free to rape this night.
Occult terrors from the pit
Who wear the devil’s mark
Eagerly their victims seek
Enveloped by the dark.
No hope, nor faith, nor charity can stop this damned insanity!

Despair
when even was is lost
and is no more exists
there's very, very few
rise back up from the mist
when nothing stirs the soul
and life has left our heart
death beckons sweet release
so easy to depart
but know from one who's been
the fragile straw you grasp
is where we all must reach
before we breath our last

Day Trip
Climb up on board a brand new life,
forget your troubles and your strife.
Leave all your worries far behind,
let any troubles leave your mind.
Forget the bills you have to pay,
laugh in the face of debt today.
Face the world without a care,
breath at last sweet freedom’s air.
Tomorrow though may make you pay.
for all the things you missed today!

Love of Life
Love of life can set you free
from darkness and despair,
even when it seems in fact,
that no one wants you there.
Love that’s given from the heart
will carry you to heights
that lets you bathe in strongest sun
in darkest of your nights.
Love that’s shared is love divine
with spirits intertwined,
its healing powers absorbing
both
your bodies and your minds.

Sink Or Swim
those who cannot swim
will not drown in the water
if they stay on land
those who cannot swim
should not drown in the water
if they use a boat
those who cannot swim
should not drown in the water
if they learn to swim
swimmers never drown
unless they enter water
and even boats sink
water gives and takes
at what level should you float
your choice sink or swim

Night Trip
Under the bedclothes with my torch,
I live in a land of dream.
Where a forest grows, with curly trees
and a canyon runs between.
My light shines out, just like the sun,
allowing me to see,
two mountains rising in the air
as lovely as can be.
I take a trip and follow paths
where only I may be,
I move with caution in this land,
........if woke, she’ll shout at me!

Keyboard
I have a new keyboard,
I hope it can spell,
the one it’s replacing
made typo’s like hell.
It couldn’t write English
without a mistake,
I hope this one’s better
for everyone’s sake.
Some say it’s the writer
I know that’s not true,
just look what I’m writing
it’s perfect right through.
So now I can go
to the top of the class
and all of my critics
can go kiss my ……..

Right Or Wrong
Can waves of living hatred ever calm
as man persists in causing mankind harm
and wars all fought to seek desire for peace
in order to ensure that all wars cease.
Cannot all see that no war can be won
and serve the needs of all with its outcome
for right and wrong are joined in history
depending on which side one tends to be.
No answer either in diplomacy
for right is only where you choose to be.

First Tooth
Got my first tooth today,
look at him smile they all say.
He's only six months and a day,
love how he's grinning that way.
Lost my last tooth today
a dentist pulled it away.
Sixty years passed by my way
but I still try to smile every day.
This is surely how life’s days are won
in loving and living with fun.
The years pass me by but again I will try,
to smile with new teeth on my gum.

Pathetic Stew
What if all I wrote was rot
would anybody care one jot.
What if all I spelt was rong
would this detract from poet's song.
What if grammer too was flawed
would my writings come outlawed.
What if every theme I spoke
gave rise to thoughts that made you choke.
Would this detract from all I do
when writing such pathetic stew.
Or would you find it all just fine
if cloaked in rhythm and in rhyme.

God's Seed
Imagine a world
without any God,
could we then spare the child
without using the rod?
Would peace come to the world,
there'd be no one to blame
for all of the wars
that are fought in his name!
If God's the excuse
for everything good,
then why are his subjects hands
covered in blood?
Though God may bring comfort
when in times of need,
misery and suffering
spring forth from God’s seed!

Heavy Conviction
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread
but mostly fools, like angels, join the dead.
But every now and then, a sudden quirk of fate
reflects back to its source the origins of hate.
So is it fate or fortune that guides a ‘helping hand’
or just 'poetic justice’ that none can understand.
They say with some conviction, 'pen is mightier than sword',
but a fist is also mighty and can seldom be ignored!

Poeterick Licence
I have an admission to make,
I feel I'm a poetic fake.
I write only in rhyme
and in most every line
poeterick license I take!
I also spend time having fun,
this seriously is overdone.
In enjoying the ride
I have fun on the side
though quite often I fall on my bum!
The moral of this is quite clear
though most will consider me queer,
I give not a damn
for I am who I am
and please most when I disappear!

Gods and Sinners
There is no God there's only man
to make this world a place that can
ignore the words of those that Cry
"He's coming back"... Just let him try!
For all the prophets, sons of God,
religions cause the pathway trod
by mankind when he goes to war
will someone tell me what it's for?
Some may object to what I say
but isn't there a better way,
for how in hell can heaven succeed
when Gods, not sinners plant the seed!

Carved In Stone
They've buried his bones
beneath this stone.
But God knows now
where he chooses to roam.
He said his work would not be done,
even when earth's life was run.
So watch and listen
and tread with care.
For wherever you are
he may be there
The laugh in the air
or a giggling brook
may be on the pathway Ivor took.
But there’s one thing certain,
when all is done
.....a simple grave won't stop his fun.
