An Intrusive Poodle
There's a Poodle so rude and intrusive
His loud barking is shrill and abusive
A busybody pest
An interloper at best
But offers love both true and effusive

Interloper
A fierce eagle in mid-flight
Was overcome with fearful fright.
He could not believe his eyes,
“What’s this doing in my skies?
First, there was Ben Franklin’s kite.
Now, I deal with Wilbur Wright.”...

fiddle faddle Beau
My new retriever Beau is intimidated by his reflection
Having a considerable fit in an unforeseen direction
Barking in earnest at the interloper, ready to do battle.
I merely throw up my hands and say “fiddle faddle!”...

What Kind of Puppy Are You
what kind of puppy are you? Roxie asked the basket pup.
he had weird colored eyes, and his pointed ears stuck straight up.
interloper did not answer, but these beasts spoke bow wow.
Basket pup hid his face inside his blanket and let out a meow....

The Campfire
something
grew cold in the night
something almost died
only a flicker
among the coals
remained
i knew
across the miles
that you can't dream
when you're awake
but then
time
the interloper
gave me
another day
a monday
the sun shone again
and my heart
was glad...

Hey What Is That
Four children enjoying a warm summer’s day
Playing games in a world where the sky is blue.
Up from the bowels of the water comes something new.
They do not notice it right away.
The interloper chooses his prey.
Hey! What is that? Yells the youngest one, Sue.
Water monsters are now terrifyingly true.
A child is snatched and taken away....

Hika Bay
Hika Bay
Silent hawks appear
outside our window
two,then four,now six
form a floating dimond
A kettle of hawks roam high
on ancient air
sent by first peoples
to remind us
We dont own these wonders
they belong to Hika Bay
we are just the latest
interlopers
Frozen in place
in the sky
the gray sky
before the rain comes
PJB...

Ollie Onion Tells off the Kitchen Knife
Ollie onion had never been this mad in his life
He turned all his anger on the kitchen knife
How dare you try to peel me, you interloper, he said.
The knife was embarrassed, his face turned red.
I did not know that you were alive, he admitted.
No one told me this, I am confused, he spitted.
Ollie was not in the forgiving mood at all.
He sent that knife packing, down the hall....

Frog Hoppers Dance
Frog hoppers dance by the brilliant light of the moon.
The jitterbugging is lively and some of them swoon.
Two get carried away. One of them tries to spoon.
The other frog pushes her away, as he does a loud croon.
There is a howling wail of a meadow lark loon.
An interloper spies on them, a masked raccoon.
They dance their legs off on the sand dune.
Most of them are excited at the frog’s old-time tune....

Women Only
gallery of a woman’s life was on display today
I wanted to trip all the men who arrived to see it
This was a special exhibit, private and exclusive.
It should have been reserved for women only.
One guy looked at my face and fled with winged feet
A display of femininity, she showed many of my own feats
first dance, first kiss, being a bride, motherhood.
Another male interloper has appeared......more later....

She Dog and Whoo Pooh
She Dog was not thrilled when the interloper appeared.
Whoo Pooh was a cute little thing and not all dog-eared.
Master was yelling, “Whoo Pooh this and Whoo Pooh that!”
Whoo Pooh was bouncy, exuberant, wiggly and rather fat.
Whoo Pooh followed She Dog all over the house
He acted like she was her hero; she felt like a louse.
One day Whoo Pooh called She Dog “mama” one day.
From there on in, they were besties, I have to say!...

We Have a New Boss
We have a new boss; the jungle association was told.
He is carefree and relaxed, and he looks raggedy and old.
I saw a new guy lying on his back, lollygagging in a tree.
I had no idea who this lazy interloper could be.
He’s the new boss said the tiger and a red bird.
That lazy dude? I thought this was insanely absurd.
Nothing made him angry, he was cool and calm as a tree.
After a while having a sloth for a boss seemed the best to me....

Do Not Surprise This Witch
The merry ole witch was deep in her cups.
With her mice, her spiders, her cat and her pups.
They were all lazing around, not doing any work.
When an interloper dropped in uninvited, the jerk.
You should clean up your house. You should wash your floor.
You should dust your shelves, you should clean this door.
The merry ole witch made him sit down and have a little drink.
He is still there to this day, on a shelf, a tiny vase that is pink....

Who Lives Here
Who lives here? Asked Crabby Hat, a magical cat.
She had turned herself tiny like an overgrown gnat.
I hope it’s a juicy mole, a tasty vole or a chewable rat
Said her sister, a big eater, Miss Tabby Brat.
It’s just an old troll, said an interloper who had been spying.
He is not fond of cats at all, unless they are dying.
Crabby Hat and Tabby Brat got big and faded up and away.
I guess you got rid of two more said the troll who was gray....

Get Rid of the Interloper
I was cautioned, he is a master chessman, so if we go ….
We have to not even whisper, and we have to tiptoe
I was expecting an owl, for I had heard he was a fowl.
I was shocked to see it was a parakeet and uttered a vowel.
The parakeet said get rid of the interloper and I was led away
So I did not see the match between him and Alice that day.
I never went back, for they had put me in jail.
And I decided to stay, for it was a place to get mail....
