on ancient air

to remind us

Frog hoppers dance by the brilliant light of the moon.
The jitterbugging is lively and some of them swoon.
Two get carried away. One of them tries to spoon.
The other frog pushes her away, as he does a loud croon.

There is a howling wail of a meadow lark loon.
An interloper spies on them, a masked raccoon.
They dance their legs off on the sand dune.
Most of them are excited at the frog’s old-time tune....

Whoo Pooh was a cute little thing and not all dog-eared.

He acted like she was her hero; she felt like a louse.
One day Whoo Pooh called She Dog “mama” one day.

He is carefree and relaxed, and he looks raggedy and old.
I saw a new guy lying on his back, lollygagging in a tree.
I had no idea who this lazy interloper could be.

He’s the new boss said the tiger and a red bird.
That lazy dude? I thought this was insanely absurd.
Nothing made him angry, he was cool and calm as a tree.
After a while having a sloth for a boss seemed the best to me....

He is not fond of cats at all, unless they are dying. 
Crabby Hat and Tabby Brat got big and faded up and away.
I guess you got rid of two more said the troll who was gray....

We have to not even whisper, and we have to tiptoe
I was expecting an owl, for I had heard he was a fowl.
I was shocked to see it was a parakeet and uttered a vowel.

The parakeet said get rid of the interloper and I was led away
So I did not see the match between him and Alice that day.
I never went back, for they had put me in jail.
And I decided to stay, for it was a place to get mail....
