The Campfire

something 
grew cold in the night 
something almost died 
only a flicker 
among the coals 
remained 
i knew 
across the miles 
that you can't dream 
when you're awake 
but then 
time 
the interloper  
gave me 
another day 
a monday 
the sun shone again 
and my heart 
was glad
