A yellow and pink sun smears and washes through

Run outside
Playing with my friends
Tether ball, Hopscotch, Jump rope
First we learn then we burn all our energy
Rain is brought about
by angels playing hopscotch
in puddles of celestial dew,
thunder by God's breakfast
grumbling in his stomach.

Hop hon, hopscotch.
Having fun lives.
The balance lives.

Hopscotch
Playing hopscotch is my favorite game
To play outside with my friends
We jump, we hop, we toss our rock
Until
one of us wins!
Listen to poem:
I once tried hopscotch in reverse,
Backwards it went from bad to worse.
My hop was scotched,
My stone was botched,
I fell head over heels adverse!
knobby-knee’d, toes that stop
bend and pick up
penny, marble, rock
outside chalk
on concrete, begging, for me to turn around
for one more try
I saw God, so ... now what?
I wait,
standing in line
at the grand Hopscotch Game
holding the stone in my hand

FORTIES PLAYTIME
Hopscotch
with whip and top
or marbles and five stones-
pastimes lost now in memory's
chasm.

Backyard hopscotch
One, two, three
Pick up the coloured stone
Hop to one knee
Toss up the speckled rock
Four, Five, six
Twist on the vibrant chalk
And cast another mix
He ran from the room holding his crotch,
A trail of urine was behind his hopscotch,
His embarrassment was there for us all to see,
But he taught me lesson; don’t hold in your wee!
Let’s play hopscotch.
You get Mom.
She can’t do it!
Go get grandma then.
Okay!
I hear them and I laugh.
Mom can’t play but I can?
It makes no sense
Yet is completely logical.
You win.
Take circumstance
and all it's hopscotch words
and fling them far beyond me now
for you have taken every how and why
and blown my dandelion air
without rhyme or season
or consequence.
You win.

Rising at her early dawn, Love's precious babies
Riding atop tiny ponies; plastic swords swirling high
Amid the air; on to joyous victory they go *.* Stopping
To play hopscotch while Daddyyyy (* takes care of the rest.

The blonde playing hopscotch
had a tattoo
In a collision of eras,
her ponytail flew
As innocence skipped,
the ink started to run
A bastardized image

Scottish
i plead

take a fifth
of Irish
whiskey
not of scotch
but if you ask
i'll wear a kilt
but if you ask
what's worn
underneath
nothing is
worn
all parts
are completely
functional

my vision
is fine
i can see
the lines
defined
by the chalk
in my hand
and the cracks
in the sidewalk
i also have
the rocks
that when
put on
the spots
make me
hopscotch
dance but
never
to
step
on my
mother's
back
Form:
Taking in vistas
breathing in autumn's perfume
squirrels hopscotch from branch to branch
juncos play a symphony for me
the wind whispers reminding me of emptiness on my sides
stinging me to the core with a sense of absence
till we meet again
It is one of those windy Kansas days
Felled oak trees roll along the country roads
Their roots are scraped and torn like hopscotch knees
They are as gnarled now as skeins of worn-out yarn
Do you hear them crying as they are being uprooted and blown?
I do.
hopscotch gray ash leper.
quicker to the tray with the
embers still burning .
he smells of malt urine and
pall mall ciggeretts.
so steady his genius through
yellow tar stained fingers.
leaping briliantly over checkered tiles
in the park.
As young kids,
we loved playing hopscotch.
Taking turns we would put big boxes on the sidewalk,
then jump from box to box for hours.
One day we took a can of spray paint,
now we have a Backyard Hopscotch.
The grass boxes look great in red,
it now matches dad's face.
