Wedding Dress

The wedding dress was to long
Even the pastor tries to hurry it along
The pride took small steps
But still she side steps
Into fast time and ends up in Hong Kong

Premium Member A Chinese Limerick

A gambler from Hong Kong named Louie.
He was dumb and quite a bit screwy.
In a gambling pad,
he lost all he had.
Today, he can’t afford chop suey.

An old gent was tellin' me about how his dad wrote "a dry book" on a given topic, and argued the issue before the Supreme Court. Pretty important dad! And mine? "My dad rescued two hookers during a boxer riot in Kowloon."

No Teacher's Pet

When the coronavirus came
The news said there's no one to blame
It killed off my master
His dog a bit faster*
And that's how they both achieved fame.

Premium Member On We Go, Ennui, No

A world full of syllables
Is so highly tillable;
they ebulliently buoy,
never leading to ennui.

When you’ve got Hong Kong Phooey
with a bowl of chop suey
and a glass of Drambuie,
what else do you need?

Or a wolf man named Gershon
with a camo tutu on
and he’s traipsing ‘cross your lawn,
asking more is just greed.

Premium Member Mountains of Love

Listen to poem:
"Mountains of Love"
said the advert.
on a Monday afternoon,
and I suppose I should give mountains
to whoever plays my tune.

Trouble is
who is this guy,
and will mountains turn out wrong;
I'll reply to the ad. next Monday,
if I'm still in Hong Kong.

The wind it is fast blowing
over South China Sea,
and mountains of love sure tempt me,
whatever it may be.

Tai One On

I wasn't long in Hong Kong, before I saw my first tai chi, and it gave me the strangest notion, the exercisers, advancing all in a row, were line dancing in slow motion. They put their left hand in, right hand out, in, out, in, out, waved them all about and, set to soothing, soulful music, the male practitioners suggestively sang, "If you show me your yin, I'll show you my yang."

How It Began

It all began in a laboratory in Wuhan;
Shan Chi sneezed next to Li Huan,
And they both gave it to Sue Han,
Who spread it all over Fenghuang.

Shie Ming went to Taiwan,
And she wasn't the only one,
Who talked to Sue Han
Who got it from a cousin from Wuhan.

And now Lien Mien Yong
Also went to Hong Kong,
It spread all along,
And it found Zhou Xong

He gave it to Kay Lee
Who stood next to me
In the mall in Juechii
Where I was eating Sushi.

King Kong
back from Hong Kong
Left quite a thong
Never see a Hmong
Where is my King Kong?
Haha I am just kidding
Don't know where my King Kong is
But I do know that he will be here
Rescuing me
From what?
From boredom
Oh my King Kong
Why didn't you honk?
I didn't know you were here
Looking through the throng
Oh my King Kong
Leave me a Dong
What? I am not in Sai Gon
Oh my King Kong
Whose song?
Sure not mine
Haha
What a King Kong!.....

Perilous Flight

A Perilous flight

The flight from Hong Kong to Manila had more
passengers than seats
Give room to pregnant women, the stewardess shouted
I was in a deep sleep
In the aisle, people sat like rowers, bent heads as the plane took off
three-hour flight air in the cabin stuffy
when the heroic had given up their seat for any woman whether
she was pregnant or not, I opened my eyes
they took chances, in the eighty’s money had changed hands
In Manila, I drank a cold beer.

Feng Shui-Ed

At an airport garden in Hong Kong
I sit and refresh my traveling spirit
amidst an effusion of lucky bamboo
Crepe white and fuchsia orchids
coyly fan their geisha faces

The Morning Sun, at first a pale opal ember
climbing over slumbering, stone-washed
mountains

Roars into brilliance
like a golden Peacock Dragon
strutting through China blue skies

I smile inwardly....
let the moment sweep me off my feet
Breathe in......
colors, sights, sounds
gifts....fullness

Restless Happiness of the First

Each time he emerged the best,
Puffed up his hairy chest,
And loudly slapped his breast,
His announced triumph a bantam’s crest,
The next man permitting no rest …
Now in the East, soon storming the West,
The-from-Northern-Hong-Kong,
Dead sure that he is King Kong:
A styling as itinerant guest,
And a triggered-by-victory zest.

But anyone can his title belt wrest,
And cause give him to try a long rest,
Unless one doesn’t as much thirst
For restless happiness of The First.
