Colours were such a delight
especially if seen in sunlight

On a black carabao's back,
a dazzling white heron
slow-dances,
the feathers on its graceful,
slender neck the breeze
romances !
silently heron
flies low over marsh...
high tide covers all

The white heron, in stark contrast,
became even more visibly white
as it perched on the mud.
there was a young toad named Joad
who began life as a mere tadpole
one day it is said
he ended up dead
the protein in a Blue Heron’s casserole
I must tell you this bird:
long thin legs, sharp beak
wading in a dappled stream
grayish blue, at home in cypress
Curving skyward through Spanish Moss
Languid summer day
Cloud afloat on garden pond
Silent Heron waits.
Ripples replace cloud
Water drips from Heron beak
Koi swim unaware.
My favorite bird is a Heron.
Soaring above the sky.
It flies like a kite,
Its neck like a serpant in motion.
The heron is a puppet on stilts.
Humerous Heron.
Form:
what future flight
is in sight
for birds of grandeur to take hold
for our delight
and capture our dreams
with their feathered wings
and carry our gaze away
Watch out for the heron, warned goose named Duce.
When he honks at you his spittle is loose!
How will I know him?
I asked Uncle Jim.
Feathers louder than Canadian Goose!
The Great Blue soared
to a vacant apartment in the sky,
it circled its own shadow as it crossed the sun,
then rowed away on a dazzle of wind.
Blue heron skies,
Your scattering light
The seas shall part
The stars shine bright
The skies shall open
The birds take flight
Hearing God’s voice, thus
Reaching the skies zenith
A Pond’s Melody
dragonflies buzzing
spring peepers chirping for mates
splashing fish jumping for meals
blue herons squawking
bilious bullfrogs croaking
quacking mallards leading young
light gently sailed before me,
it was a heron, fragile being-
her white hair flowing over mine
like the touch of heaven`s stars;
splendor fell upon my soul,
I`ve seen her purity swell within.
The heron was not about to release his catch.
I can imagine his delight as he dove into the water.
The caught prey is no doubt horrified,
It has stopped struggling now.
Weird how fast we go from life to lunch

dusk on the river
a heron lifts without sound
shadows drift behind
the patient cat
watches spilt birdseed for mice
a heron lands
a heron lands
a pair of ducks like bird seed
my cat... spoilt for choice
all in my garden
a nature wonderland... mine
a hunting heron
Alone wanders
The white heron
And picks pathways
Through streams wending
A peculiar kind of a bird is he,
Who looks like some sort of bird-bush
(or tree)
And perhaps he goes
And feeds at God’s knee,
Does he…

Billed and blue with hidden graces,
master of ancient tide,
stalking for a slippery snack-
not long will the finned hide.
Perch stick in the bill like roses
to a Don Juan; I pause
to listen to the restless sea
offer rounds of applause.
Humidity’s blanket rests upon the pond
frogs draped in lurid air
idle on glazed lily pads
waxed turtles gleam
amid the dance of hazy heat
a silent duck preens
as dragonflies swim
through moistened air
the heron waits.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Knee-deep in stillness,
it waits—a question mark
pressed into the shallows.
Then, like a blade slipped
between the ribs of the river,
it strikes.
Nothing moves
but the fish’s silver flicker
of regret.
A pale light came before me,
sailing slowly, enclosing me.
It was a heron, fragile being--
Her white hair flowed over mine,
a touch of the heaven`s stars
A divinity felt through my heart,
as she looked into my eyes--
Splendor fell upon my soul,
as I`ve seen her purity grow.
Great Blue Heron stood
Thin as a flat toothpick split
Camouflaged sky-blue
Waits in knee deep blue water
Silently creeps jolt attack
