Notes About The Poem

the following poem was written in response to above photo as an assignment in an online poetry class

THE BLUE HERON

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Knee-deep in stillness, it waits—a question mark pressed into the shallows. Then, like a blade slipped between the ribs of the river, it strikes. Nothing moves but the fish’s silver flicker of regret.
I think the great blue heron has such beauty and grace. There was one that was out at the river the last few years which is a rarity in these parts. I have enjoyed going out there and seeing it. Sara K
I share fishing spots with the heron respecting their rights to the quiet shallows....nicely done
