I knew we were in trouble
when Dr. Suess lowered the boom
Daring to change his book's title
from 'Horton Hears a Whom'
In grammar school the boys had fun
Even though not one had a gun
They'd stalk a girl
Trying to shoot squirrel
But not one ever even saw one

I’ve got a thing about spelling
I'm not averse to showing or telling
But an apostrophe out of place
Is just a disgrace
And it always ends up with me yelling

the sky offers in passing,
each mark a soft reminder
that even silence has a grammar

Wanted to hit his head with a hammer;
Idiot complete,
And will repeat;
Himmed and hawed around and did stammer.
