It was a surprise then

for gladioli,

I will learn to live with them.

We bring home bunches from Walmart,
vivid, over-the-top floral giraffes.

They dwarf everything in the apartment,
but do provide shade
        for the African violets....

after the chilly weather is done , comes  awesome spring
breathing life into plants and flowers
changed is the  nature ,  roses ,carnations, lilies n gladioli greet  everywhere
delightful is the dew on them butterflies and bees  hover around
elated are the birds and beasts wishing spring be always there....

Spring rain was forecast,
it came.
showers licking the earth,
also the bald spot on the top of my head.
under my collar, down my back,
skin gets squirmy.

In the store,
I’m thinking of buying an umbrella,
but end up buying Gladioli,
because you love them.

The tall flowers are soaked through
and getting heavy,

I could have forecasted that....

Windows holding crystal sky
A Robin's nest of bluish peace
A handful of blue sea of Greece

Whenever storms lash and blades slash
Apples tumble in agony in warnings of deluge
My only refuge in those fair eyes
Lovely slice of moon

To quell the wet bird- like gloom

They have frowsy flamboyant hats,
some are born English,
while others are obviously alien.

They need a deep corner to thrive,
or a high ceiling.

Like Maasai maidens their necks
are stretched to infinity,
they will not take much manhandling.

If we ever find their spaceships
we will need a stepladder
to greet their leader.

They both cure depression
and bring depression on,
especially if you stand too long
in their shadows.

Determination grew,
Taller! She thought,
Heaven in full view,
Great heights was reached,
Her colours to the sky,
Piercing with passion,
Romancing her dye,
Unstoppable in strength,
Ladders she climbed,
Up through the clouds,
On the wind of desire,
Beauty developed,
Flowering began,
Covered with petals,
She pictured her plan,
Bursting rainbows of bloom,
Raining perfumes,
Earth all aglow,
What a magnificent show.
