yard full of flowers
delightful to passing eyes
less tall grass to mow
written July 15, 2021
The primrose and the primula
Are really very simula
But out in Wales
The slugs and snails
Make both of them look grimula
I never wanted it to happen,
I allowed loves seed to sow,
So here we're in the garden,
But there's a drought to stop the growth.
silent tears rain down
as upon my knees I pray
hands grasp the dark earth
tending the vegetables
as the master mends my soul
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sunflowers are yellow
I bet you were expecting something better
but no this is just gardening facts
Form:
Fiddle D. Dee and Fiddle Sticks
Were gardening among the pricks
One planted seeds
As one pulled weeds
And many other dirty tricks
Overhearing her shriek
At the trees, he
Keeps gardening, whispering
Soothing sounds to the soil
for andrea's acrostic contest

George Orwell famed for Animal Farm
loved gardening to keep him calm
So he wrote his satire 1984
the year passed,& became days of yore
Gardening, once a weekend chore,
Now it's daily, something to adore.
Living here, by the Middle East,
Flowers bloom in a glorious feast.
i found the perfect garden spot
to spread the ashes of my heart
all in the hopes that it would grow
rows and rows of forget-me-nots
summer
humid, hot
swimming, camping, gardening
seashore, breeze, mountains, sleet
skiing, cuddling, baking
gelid, cold
winter
~floral septic crops
gardening flowering stops
sun lit shine so bright~

morning plans cancelled
there will be no gardening
to wet too muddy
the ground rejoices
saved from tilling and hoeing
by summer's rainstorm
In Phoenix, a story was told
That Tom Cunningham stashed his gold
Since Tom is a bard
They dug up his yard
Marmite in hand, Tom laughed, "You're cold!"
IN LIFE’S BALL GAME
Don’t be a football,
Thrown and kicked down the field
Like rocks of nature:-
Rather, be a bouncing ball…
Sowing and reaping life’s goal:-
November dreams of beauty of my garden in springtime,
planning horticultural fancies my garden has never grown.
Dreaming of it in November is easy part of gardening.
Now that spring has arrived on the scene
to get out in the garden I'm keen
can't let one more day pass
without cutting the grass
since the light through my window is green!
Dig through earth; use that spade
Don't let any animals invade!
Go through sun; get some rain
Toiling it is not in vain!
Praise God for what He can do
And you created something new!
Weeds
Useful?
Invaluable to me
I am a country gardening queen
Some people eliminate these darlings.
Not me. I plant them in bare spots.
And yes they thrive in them.
Useful happy
Weeds
Your garden is your retreat
From smoke and smog,
From gossip and blog.
It is your entrée
To all things Natural:
Carrots and Honey,
Flowers and Plants---
Mosquitoes, Flies, and Ants.
Walked out on my sidewalk to the mailbox,
on top of the box was a pair of socks,
I said as I scratched my head,
"Who would leave such socks of red?"
Neighbor's wife replied, "Nude gardening rocks!"
Sparkles of faerie wings flit past the pink tulips
Sweeping and swerving, frisky faerie flips
Daffodil is jealous of this marvelous mythical attention
Pokes fun at floral’s spring gardening convention
burlap
coarse, cheap
bagging, gardening, covering
potatoes, cork boards / ballet shoes, pillows
wedding, sleeping, dancing
silky, colorful
satin

painting, cartooning, poetry, art,
trees, lilacs, daffodils, mushrooms, violets,
gardening, bird watching, listening for spirit,
writing, reading, learning, listening
these are a few of my favorite things
verbs pranced across my mind
gardening, wiggling, giggling, slipping, sliding
jiggling, and sometimes sledding
jumping, jousting, boasting, ghosting
they were too fast to catch
but I ran after them, trying my best
