Premium Member Yellow Ribbons
Yellow ribbons furl
on oaks that line our driveway
as we await your return.
Their luster's now pale,
reflecting the challenged hope
of a son you’ve never met....

fallen flowers furl
leaf paintings fill the weather ---

O, Lady
O, Lady!
Hard as barnacles
That block the silver skin
Of a Swan Boat
That sails errantly
Upon the Sea of Din
You are the Wave
That lifts that boat
Or sinks it in the mire
You are its ruby eyes that dim
Or flare with bright desire.

I cannot tell,
I cannot tell,
The reason
Why you go,
I’ll grip the rails
And furl the sails
And dumbly watch the snow....

B'Day Poem
Blowing out the candles on my cake
I muse with the music of this mortal sphere.
And congratulate and condole at once;
The agony and ecstasy meld in one celestial ball
Unkempt with imagined beauty and power-
Beyond reckoning.
Confine it not, nor fetter, nor furl
But let fly surreptitious sobriety
That hath on winged fancy flown
And forever toward Heaven's unboundedness....

My Sciuridae Friend
I watched this morning, as you walked along the rail,
your little pudgy body and long curled tail
I watched you stop a moment, meant to warm your paws,
wondering, if you saw me looking, from the windows veil

Bitter cold today, as I see your tail begin to furl,
the snow covered landscape, reminds me of a mural
Yet, I feel I recognize your sciuridae face,
Wait! I know you! oh my! your Spike the Squirrel...

Tresses
I am a sucker for long black hair,
darker the better, know it’s not fair,
though like some reds, ebon's my fave,
occasional highlights can make me rave.

Prefer it soft, not too much curl,
no length too long, windswept fine furl.
Bound in a braid, the stylist well paid
creation so lovely on shoulder laid.

Or behind flowing, like waterfall,
shiny and magic on woman tall,
it can be short, cut to the roots
but rather it touching her leather boots....

Premium Member Bent Askew
Listen to poem:
Bent askew, with shadow straight as a die
reflecting my every move and mood
I dwelt upon the hidden grace of being bent.
For curved things are strangely stronger
than straight things, so rare in nature.
So prone to shatter to pick-up-sticks, straight bits
when compliant and inflexible.
Fearing the wind will turn you into a statue
if you flap, furl, curl and yield to change,
and take a backward step, arching back,
away from the straightforward....

A Pyrate Moon
Sky ,like a starry sheet where some shoot and others dont,
Sea, dark with small waves breaking on island sand,
Ship, large and swift with wooden beams creaking.
Flag, aloft looking for the wind to furl and display,
Rum, that dark banana liguid tasting so good,
Yo, Ho ho, we sing when drunk ,
we dont live like tonsured monk.
A life at sea neath a starry sky,
no one to mourn when we die.
Yo ho ho furl the sails and go.
