Premium Member Birds-of-Paradise

When some Birds-of-Paradise sit to dine,
they may eat a fruit like a clementine.
Others prefer an insect to a plant,
favoring a futilely praying mantis.

Movements

Movements arise, much to our surprise, protesting against autocracy.

We interpret the fight, as being just, and right, and favoring democracy.

But what if we’re wrong, and it’s just a swan song, to disguise something more fundamental?

We’ll have to rethink, or swim and then sink, ‘cuz it could end up somewhat detrimental.

Premium Member At the Moment You Can'T

Because loneliness is a trick,
Because isolation is a forgery,
Because the dealer frowns on favoring odds
And drowning to serve both God and man
Presses on the chest.
Because racing brain lightening, has become
Scenes in a worst outcome film,
At the moment you can't,
Just cannot...
Inch towards me,
And notice no boundary.

Premium Member Promised Gleams

The sky wears a peachy shawl
 Gentle ushering in the dawn
There is a promised gleam of light

Into this new day both joy and sadness will come
Chirping birds entertain with their melody
Leaving a song in the heart

Bring in new ideas to rearrange the status quo
 Infinite possibilities lie ahead
Favoring those who will seize the day

Premium Member CIRCULAR REASONING

The round hole rolls on
Cursed by its inability
To accept the square peg

Perhaps it was fear of corners
For he had visited a square hole
And was mocked for his lack of angles

He learned later that the circle is complete
Fully accepting of all angles
Without favoring any

However, he is still unsure
Which slot Tab A should be inserted into

Premium Member Flawed and Grateful Souls

How grateful are we who are aware
          of weaknesses from our birth,
          knowing He knows and knew,
and sent His son to salve our pain:
healing blood and stripes of mercy,
          flowing tears for hearts repenting.

Our Lord and Savior stands our place:
          enduring love, His favoring grace.

Premium Member In the Yellowing of Time

The yellowing
of winter
flows out
into the yellowing
of spring;
kissing chosen roses
with its hued sunshine.

Seasons,
like chameleons,
change;
and paper yellows
as teasing tinting time
mellows itself.

But
truth’s color
knows no shade;
remaining
the same
in all seasons
favoring
neither night nor
day.

And
is unchanged
by the yellowing
of time.

Part-Time Poet

I've done some horrid things
that others admire
and find but few
of life's conjectures
with which I am in harmony
my grand planned path to happiness
abandoned mid-draft
favoring another specious endeavor
the sought-after solution
only solving the equation
for the moment in which it made sense,
still,
in both it's common usages,
my life not a waste
full-time a fool
and part-time poet

Premium Member Double Minded

No coincidence
that I have at the least
two of most everything
for navigation

generally favoring
one side over another

though mostly straddling
the lines between – the tight
I walk...life’s many journeys
of balance --

Balance, is Free Will on shaky
display – what man does to avoid
both the Devil and God

small, under developed
hands, attempting to juggle
infinite worlds and stars….

A Lemon Cream Cake Moment

i eat my lemon cream cake
and forget what i dislike

when the flavor hits me,
it's like being lost in a
place only seen in my dreams

i eat my lemon cream cake
and remember why God opens
my eyes

it is in the very next moment
of favoring the savoring that
i take a pause and thank Him
thoroughly

i then whisper AMEN with a
satisfactory smile....and dive
right back into that scrumptious
lemon cream cake

Premium Member How Odd

Partnering with death, poverty
Of hunger and homelessness
Seek the equality of all—Vowing
Never to discriminate;

But their perpetrators
Continue to control the odds
Favoring a hued majority;

A hued majority remaining
A minority concern as their opioid
Conditions are not prescribed—
Just over the counter cash addictions;

So odd be the ways of mercy and equanimity
When it comes to the hued like you and me;
How odd.

Evolution

Evolution
Do not look at me because my skin be black
My hair so short and kinky
My nose as broad as the California sun
My mind a mystery to thee
Don’t look at me for my teeth are strong
They will grind because you look at my slender eyes
My breast in bloom the curve of a hip
My lips be red it don’t go to my head
Do you see me like you
I am your sister is it not true?
While you looking at me
I be sly lookin at you
Favoring ancestors I never knew

Premium Member Brad Pitt Handsome Cowboy

He was Brad Pitt handsome, and the girls were giddy about him.
Lived his days out on the range, favoring his horse and canteen.
Looked like a country western star, but never sang a tune.
Mysteriously quiet, did not use many words, worked hard.

Married a woman once upon a time who was as quiet as he.
Did not work out, for they had no common interests.
She wanted an in-house husband, he wanted a camp roll and stars.
Brad Pitt handsome, wasted on a horse. Sigh.

Premium Member The White House Happenings

If really getting high, is just your thing…..
Just get some white powder at the West Wing.
I mean, after all,why the heck not?
And one granddaughter of the POTUS may not come in?
Is disavowed his name as if she committed mortal sin.
At Christmas, when the White House is decorated,
Her presence as on ALL days is strictly forbidden.
But laws favoring Communist China will be written!

Premium Member I Dreamed a Dream a Dream of Sacrifice

I dreamed a dream, of Him,
kneeling in a verdant garden,
only he could nurture.
A place of peace and pardon.

     He gazes, locked favoring heaven,
sorrow steals his sight and soul,
whilst darkness hardens.

I witness in fear, whilst he bled
from severe innumerable laceration on his flesh.
A scarlet robe and woven crown,
a difficult heavy cross for him to bear.

Through shameful tears, to gather near and meet,
walked close, knelt at his feet.
