as rain extinguished embers
of the long day's city heat
blurred traffic light reflections
painted puddles on the street.
One side screams 'TIS TRUE
the other side, YOU LIE ...
When we can no longer distinguish
the Truth will be extinguished
When Elvis looked like a balloon
It seemed he would pop very soon
He took many pills
To conquer his ills
But the "cure" extinguished his croon
the moth beats its wings

now elevating
now lowering

Is she a zombie...
Her eyes are vacant; her heart's
fire extinguished, brittle ash
Hush! She approaches
expressionless, gliding through
a different dimension

Still, burning bright
This heart

He did attrack,
