engraves the footfall in deep print,
stone dry at noon time it doesn’t show
any new footprints so distinct.

Emotion-hued supple young mind
draws lasting image of friends true,
matured by hard times it doesn’t find

        crashing sounds on the granite rocks
      water rising, filling up nearby caves
        winds raise nearby boat docks
  to fall and crumble in pieces into the sea
  as the seagulls and cormorants on the docks flee 
    to the seawater to swim free

White lines sit ever so vertical;
Upon a tarnished glass
A razor engraves the surface
As though it were the last.
With every line a story told of a broken life. 
Up your nose you feel relief. 
In a wonderland you explore.
No sence do you make.
My heart you will break.
Yet you always want more.
On a stone a story told;
Etched in the glass of which you scrap.
Here lies a withered soul.
Because of the choices that she made.

Like orbs from other galaxies 
They float 
Clutching at air to scout out
Another host 
An unwelcome visit
Vulture like 
And unforgiving,
Photos etched into memories 
Appear moment by moment,
The internet engraves
The virus 
Into the minds of all...
And now we ponder 
Supreme inevitability 
As we wipe the grocery stores clean,
Buffering 
Against what is to come
Waiting behind Lysol scrubbed doorknobs 
As yesterday’s hum of humanity 
Becomes a new sound of silence....

Tracks us down, like a hungry wolf,
Eventually catching up, devours us,
Leaving nothing, but itself.

That forgotten, returns,
Haunting us, night and day,
When least suspected, it floods back,
Taking with it, all we seek to protect.

That which we pretend to be,
engraves its name upon us,
for all to see what we have become,
and what we are no longer.

And so turns the karmic wheel,
around and around,
until at last,
its work with us is done....
