A Cup of Tea

I love my tea
It comforts me
I drink and it
Becomes part of my psyche
I savour the taste
So fruity and nice
I am a tea drinker
And it feels so right

Saint Patty's Day At the Office Limerick

I fear I’m not much of a drinker
I prefer work, where I’m a thinker
I sure love the color green
but I won’t be letting off any steam
Another St. Patty’s that’s a stinker

Meeting the Soupers

Have I got clean socks on?

I really must be sure

I wouldn't want my souping buds

To smell the green manure

That pile I trod in earlier

It really was a stinker

It's crucial that

My new compadres

think that I'm a thinker.

(And NOT a heavy drinker)

James Joyce

O tell me about a snoddy gumboot
Of a soul; black as Guiness -
A drinker of dirty water; a wordsmith,
A conjurer and fumbler; bearer of
Levity and pork sausages, a stout
Fellow with the learning as big as
The Cork and Kerry Mountains;
You thrown-out words of Dublin...

Dangy Too Little Monkey

The clean tail goes after the light head
But, Tequila drinker dangy tail-head follows cows and cats
Lift right
Right lift
His news like his nose
Cheap acts like rare
Here and there
Big sound small mind
gray-haired dangy too little monkey

Glass Knows Class

Appreciate glass
When it's painted
Your fave color.

See glass display
If colorless
Putting water.

Slim glass fave
Sexy drinker
Pairs neon light.

Glass varies form
Comes variety
Set occasions.

People knows class
Way they use glass
After they eat.

Glass for candle
Glass for furbish
Wall, flat or desk.

The Picky Drinker

coffee
It's bitter.
PepsiCola
Too Sweet
Diet Cola
Terrible After Taste
Lemonade
It depends on who makes it
Sweet tea
Yuk.
Regular tea
Only when it's hot,
and I am picky
about the brand
Alcoholic beverages
Watch me throw up
Okay water it is
Smooth, cold, crisp
clean water
But out of the tap please
No bottled junk for me.

Good Bye Hangover Days

I use to be a two fisted drinker,
always getting myself totally blitzed.
Now I'm just a social drinker.
Three drinks and that's it,
because the hangovers I'd experience would linger on for days,
leaving me in a very deep depressed state
and who in their right mind would want to feel that way?
Certainly not me. Good bye hangover days.

Alcoholism In Five Easy Lines

Alcoholism is a family disease, my friend.
But, the onus, sadly, falls on the drinker!
Cocktails make him a big man, while we sit, righteously by.
Denial by family and friends, the hallmark of this disease.
Ending up dead or with avwet brain or may gets sober!

Tea the Old Lady Invited

tea? the older lady invited.
the old man declined.
He was not much of a tea drinker.
This happened daily for years.

One day it was colder than other days.
Tea?
The old man nodded.
She poured him a glass of whiskey.

So this is what he had been missing?
She gave him a twinkle eyed look.
He never refused tea again.
They became friends too.

Own Little World

Sophisticated drinker and smart thinker.
Sleep-deprived and energetic at the same time.
Delirious and curious, yet so serious.
Eccentrically indifferent because I could care less.
Whatever you think of me may be true,
But whatever else you say just won’t do.
Rest assured, however, you have my word,
Someday I will welcome you into my own little world.

She Drank Tea

Aunt Judith was the only tea drinker in the family;
Camomile brewed from bags - no loose tea leaves for her to read -
her future was foretold at birth: heart defect and early death.

The wise doctors were sure she would not live much beyond thirty,
but with faith and determination she surprised us all -
Joyfully, she left this world at the ripe old age of fifty!

Coffee Master

I am the greatest coffee drinker.

The best wide awake thinker.

I drink my java,

hotter than lava,

always black. I never tinker.

My Joe does not flow from a mug,

cause I down it from a gallon jug.

My coffee is the strongest,

and my buzz lasts the longest.

I hate to move slow, like a slug.

Whey Protein

Dear whey,
You have changed my life from the day we met
Our first date was great because I got you wet
First I poured water on you, didn’t like the taste
Ever since, I used milk to switch up the pace
At which I devoured your nutritious goodness
We coalesce perfection, never a misunderstoodness
You are the cheese co-product of my dream
Protein, protein, wherefore art thou protein?
Sincerely, your drinker…

Ever Since

dad could roll a cigarette
with just two fingers
and the tip of his tongue
i saw him do this once
in a wind storm

he would shave just close enough
to keep himself grizzled

he could dive into an engine
to wrench a rattle
and make it purr

he was an expert drinker
astounding all-comers

so
ever since
he took a Louisville Slugger
to moms head
the three of us

ma
he
and me
were all astounded

Booze 'Em Time

This path that I am on
I can't help but choose
Hunger grabs at me
I grab mostly booze

Red vodka or some clear
Or bourbon and whiskey
I knock 'em back so fast
My favorite is ole piskey

So judge me that you will
I drink, that's my dismay
I harbor all bad thoughts
But don't get in my damn way

I'm a drinker, yes I am
I can't help but be who I will
Toss 'em back and shoot 'em now
Load 'em up and I will kill

A Toast To 2013

It's New Year's Eve and I'm working
on getting myself a buzz.
Bailey's can sometimes get me there
but rye and ginger definitely does.

I'm not much of a drinker.
You could say that I'm a cheap drunk.
But once in awhile a little nip
can get me out of a funk.

So I'll toast to the year that was
and the one that's about to be.
I hope the new year will be kind
to my friends, my family and me.

I implore you to help me

shed fur from a silver unicorn is imperative for my potion
must be from an older seasoned unicorn, a world traveler
without this, the elixir will not give clairaudience to the drinker.
I also beg you to help me locate a seed from a baby boo pumpkin
I know it will not be easy, but easy does not enter into this equation
the drinker needs autumn emotions provided by this baby boo seed
so he can anticipate and appreciate winter

A 2nd Poem About Joe Webb

My neighbor is a responsible drinker, he won't drink and drive.
If other people were as smart as him, many people would still be alive.
Joe will not drive a vehicle if he has been drinking.
That is responsible behavior and it's also good thinking.
If you're about to drink and drive, remember Joe because he's an inspiration.
Driving while intoxicated is very dangerous and that is not an exaggeration.

(Dedicated to Joe Webb.)

Allegory

Can I ascend a poem allegorical?
Are Tetley's teabags paradoxical?
A teabag is full of strength,
Teabag enters moisture at full string's length,
Radiating vigour and a pick-me-up,
While the tea drinker begins to sup,
There is the teabag,
Sodden, drained by old hag,
Teabag limp and fatigued,
I ponder, intrigued,
Are teabags sent from above?
Is a teabag truly true love?
Is this a poem allegorical?
Used teabags-quite paradoxical!
