The early skylark

Sings with verve, his stolen notes.

Weaves them with his own,

Makes them his alone.

On him the rapt poet dotes.



The poet will write

How  in late of night

The small skylark sings his song.

He flies very high.

He seems above sky

Sounds like the sky sings along.

Although absurd
A daytime sleeper

Pick pocketing quotes
Reading again and again
On language she dotes
Blank paper and pen

Tuning you out
Without recognition
A jarring shout
When she finds the ignition

No harsh intentions

I love a room that overlooks
A river or the sea,
For, on a terrace with some books,
Is where I like to be.

A sunny seat, a view with boats
And birdsong in the air,
A husband who, upon me, dotes -
Why, nothing can compare!

A mid-day ice cream, browsing stores,
A walk along the shore,
A bowl of mussels, Guinness pours -
Well, who could ask for more?
