Morning Ritual

Glazed orange china
with dogwood branches blooming
filled with bergamot
to stain the lips in henna
warm the palms with bitter steam.

a cinder block
on a dusty road
children still climb and play
around the same dogwood

Watercolor sketch
Of a dogwood flower on
Your sun-kissed shoulder
Sangria toned, calls my lips
Regret turns sweetness bitter

dogwood blooms open
revealing the cross Christ bore
center crown of thorns

A bumblebee missed my head this morning
Flew into the plate-glass window, without warningl,
And bounced off into the dogwood tree
I wonder, who was better off…him or me?

Without Harmony

No perfumed rose buds,
only pale sun in cold sky...
without harmony.

No busy robins
on those gorgeous dogwood trees...
without harmony.

No wild kids laughing,
chasing scary butterflies...
without harmony.

April, you Enchantress

April comes dressed in dogwood and wisteria
She hums her tune of birdsong, buzzing bees, and the gentle creaking of tree branches swaying in her cool morning breeze
Her breath of fresh pine lingering into the warm afternoon sun

Dogwood

Dogwood Full of blossoms Blushing pink against green Petals of four crowd slight branches Summer flowers reign birthright of season Grace a vase as the centerpiece Creates smiling dimples Unique beauty Dogwood

white clouds of dogwood

bird song heralds morn

Thicket

My trembling feet may venture
Where others dare not go
These fingers touch the blood red thorns
And remind my heart to beat slow

But still the sparrow sings to me
Quietly from the dogwood tree
Echoing across the falling leaves
"Come to me, come to me."

''Vision of Today''

I awaken to an invigorating delight.
The iridescence of the sky, lye within clouds in purest form.
As my eyes peeled to a dogwood in bloom.
Daffodils and lilac brought sweet smell to the air.
Nature has set forth to allure my cognition.
Oh' beautiful day.

Many white blooms in spring
Four petals have blood drops on each
These are Christ's head, hands, and feet with the center red berries
Being the bloody crown that was placed on his beautiful brow that drouped in the pain, heat

Churches sit upon red hills
And blue birdsong such a thrill
Romantic eyes looks that kill
Onyx night sky blue and still
Lovely southern accent that rings
In ears like song of sweetest dreams
Neighborhood nosey busy body
And dogwood flowers by the creek

As cool raindrops caress red leaves
And waterdroplets cling
Clouds shade red berries of the dogwood
Formed in early spring

Fall makes a big splash, rains all day
Soon will come October's cold
But who knows what fickled fall will
bring, cloudy? sunny bold!

A splash of white rises in blossoms tall
On the Dogwood trees near the stone wall
They have been growing year to year
Now they have bloomed with spring cheer
Decorated in white surrounded by green
They are shining to fill in this beautiful scene
