Soft Night Songs
Crickets welcome night
Dew clings to my fading dreams
Aesop’s fables live

night sounds
surreal as dreams
crickets harmonica
owls overture to natures pets
singing

Melody of Cinquain
Pastel colors upon the edge
As the sun breaks away
the night, crickets and katydids
still entertain the day
songbirds are singing
crickets have added rhythm

Pull the shades
Dim the lights
Hear the snores
No response
Just the crickets
My art dulls you?
It's my therapy
midnight settles over unbroken plain,
crickets stitch faint threads of sound,
stars embrace the silence
Lovers kiss under
a full moon, as fireflies dance
among the trees
While sounds of crickets chirping
Play a lovely melody
Crickets chirping
This sultry summer night
Stereo panning
Left & right
Music to my ears
Thought they keep out of sight
The sonnet crickets hymn
Can awaken life in a day
The darkness of night dim
Lonesome cricket in the hay
yellow rice crickets
sing sweet lullabies
to
make
the
restless stars
fall asleep
to dream
the
impossible dreams
Smell of fresh-mown grass
Twinkling stars greet dusk’s twilight
Crickets chirp loudly
crickets are singing
in the heat, this summer day
a hidden chorus

Roosters crow
Cock-a-doodle-do
Crickets hum
Jimminey
An eighteen wheeler heads out
Voices drowned out
families frolic
verdant landscapes sandy beach
daylight lingering
crickets chirping cheerfully
summer’s harbinger of change
dusk
rains hope
perfumed to
quench crestfallen
roses as crickets
susurrate hymns
for a new
tuscan
dawn
TINY CHORUS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
choir of crickets
small chorus hidden in grass
summer’s fading song
The little crickets
Crawlin' around in the field,
That's their world, man.
That's their planet Earth.
I hope they enjoy it.
we stroll along in the sand
holding hands in the moonlight
crickets chirp in the night
P.R.Deremer
. . . crisp, shrill, crickets' chirp
windless, arid, lazy days
mirage, noontime haze . . .
The stars are out now
and crickets sing to me of
hope in the darkness
Deep within the night,
I realize I am now
halfway to the dawn
Who can hear sounds ring…
Crickets singing in my head
Is sanity dead?
Poetic form: Haiku
I love wisdom of crickets.
they sing,
and dance,
only in absence of chickens.
Humans sing and dance
to please even their grave diggers.
from the edges
of this undying grass
the crickets
are playing
a symphony
your voice
carries
in the winds
the lyrics
of my heart
Little black creatures
chirping through the dark of night
such a soothing sound.
baritone bullfrogs
harmonize with crickets-
firefly tenors
flickering-
nothing’s as harmonic
as nights music
