Cricket, symbol of good luck
Chirping at night like duck
Mantis, jaunting and pray
Lobbying and munching a honey prey
Discriminating palates
garnish salads with shallots
But when eating croquettes
avoid mallets
The sonnet crickets hymn
Can awaken life in a day
The darkness of night dim
Lonesome cricket in the hay
Sweat and saliva
The dual to shine in the game of cricket
Saliva caught by virus
Sweat rushed to be alone at the wicket!
A fonder
tides in life
to secure.
I dreamt that
some years ago
same so how.
How can I
waste the world
like pirates?.

Writing of cricket in verse

rubbing its legs in the hall
making sounds like frog

A duck that loved to play cricket
Slipped up on a sticky wicket
Of course Tom was there
With Marmite to spare
And a silver spoon to flick it!
I listen to him
nodding to his beliefs held
on sacred forms et al. . .
wishing him away to chase
swallowtails and cricket song
One cricket rubs legs
Singing his jimminey song
Crows are silent now
No vultures fly high circling
A quiet autumn twilight
All busy with game
Cricket Tennis and Foot ball
On the round egg Earth
Whispers find my ears
that suspenseful kind of way
crickets chirping crisp

drowsy cricket songs
call orange-black wings to rest
on yellow ragweed
hunting with broomsticks
bent coat hangers and cheesecloth
we chase summer dreams
We invented cricket and football
And guess what we useless at them all
We loose every game
Drives the supporters insane
But we good for an after game brawl

Supine, void of rest,
Enumerating cricket chirps.
Should be counting sheep.

I had always enjoyed playing cricket
Till one day I told them to stick it
I was in at the crease
And was brought to my knees
When a googly hit me, middle wicket

As the doctors and nurses begin their day,
The cricket chirps resonate
Throughout the hallway;
as if they own all of the luck in the place.
Pinkie's ova dried up in summer.
Her sackcloths made beach days a bummer,
till she caught a sperm whale—
an Aussie bowler, "Gale"—
who had spun her like a newcomer.

My brain's become foggy and hazy!
