At Hemmingway's cottage by the sea
His six-toed Maine Coon Cat played with me
He spun and jumped and chased some string
The joy I felt made me sing

God
was with the squirrel,
made it a golden path
the perfect zig and zag,
a whisper to stop-
a whisper to go-
a shout to sprint-
for the glory hole-

God
was with the squirrel,
but forgot about the coon-...

Hate Gate
Don’t be late
Get on board

Hate that hate
Hate that word

Nigga Faggot
Fairy coon

Sticks n stones
OH!
Words WILL bruise!

Guinea chink
Jewball slut

Words that hurt
Words that SHUT

Get on board
Shut that gate

Shun those

Escape
My father drove a tractor
when I was a child
He raised black and tan coon hounds
And hunted the wild

When father wasn't looking
I'd go into their pen
crawl up inside the doghouse
So small and dark within

In explaining my notion
Felt safe starring out the door
World outside so far away
Like being in the womb once more...

Premium Member Homeless
I saw the coon dog
Crossing the road in front of me
Head hanging down
He moved suspiciously
Then, as I passed by him
My window down
He turned his head to look at me
A question in his dark eyes
Are you friendly, he asked
And I smiled, whispering under my breath
God bless your heart, sweet dog.
I so hope he found a good home....

Premium Member Dogs Play Pool With a Crafty Cat
A bulldog, spaniel and terrier played a game of pool.
Relieving me of my money and kibble. I felt like a fool.
They saw my T-bone and started to be salivating a drool.
I offered to trade them for the kibble, trick kind of cruel.
The T-bone had been enchanted by a devilish ghoul.
Never trust a Maine coon cat is a very good dog rule....

Yelling With the Crowd
From somewhere deep in the woods
A pack of dogs sound discovery;
Perhaps a 'possum or a 'coon
Or maybe that old black bear
A farmer said he saw crossing
Our dirt road--causes this choir
Of tenor cries.

I will not get my gun nor investigate
What surprised the dogs.
It's dawn and there is coffee
Left to drink with thoughts
Of the last time I was excited enough
To yell with the crowd,
Witnessing the unexpected....

Premium Member Voice of Hemmingway
In a wooden cottage
Beside the sea
The voice of Hemmingway is calling me

Come and join the six toed cats
Gathering in my comfy lap
They'll be taking their evening nap

This is all I have of this
So I guess its time to quit

(In no way would I disrespect Hemmingway or his writings. This is just something that is
whimiscal from the fact that the Maine Coon Cats with the polydactyl trait still live at his
home in Key West.)...

The Moth Hound
Of a coon hound,
you have heard,
there's plenty around.

I have found
a very strange dog,
who's nothing but a moth hound.

When ever you see,
he sees a moth near by,
the moth trys to flee,

it isn't any match,
as my dog goes after the moth,
and makes a wonderful catch.

He eats it all the way,
and chews and swallows,
he looks at me, now he wants to play.

wrote 6-14-90 about my dog Brandon who in the summer of 1990 ate hundreds of moths....

Black Man
Black man, black man.
Tall, strong, and so grand.
No one could compare to this man.
Black man, black man.

You big black man.
Baddest in all the land.
Ace Boon Coon of all your land.
Respected by all men.

Black man, black man.
Men shiver at the sound of your name.
Your voice booms with the sound of one who reigns.
Black man, black man.

Who is this black man?
Known to all in this land.
Named for greatness and called to stand.
Black man, black man....

Premium Member Good Old Blue
I got Old Blue,
When he was a pup.
Whatever I fed him,
He'd gobble it up.

He grew up strong,
He grew up lean.
He's the best Bloodhound,
I've ever seen.

He'd catch a scent,
In the blink of an eye.
From near and far,
You could hear his cry.

He'd chase a Fox,
Or tree a 'Coon.
On summer nights,
He'd howl at the Moon.

When I was down,
Or sick in bed.
Right by my side,
He'd rest his head.

He's a better soul,
Than me or you.
There's no other dog,
Like good Old Blue....
