Moist tracks of my mermaid’s feet
Her heart beats with coastal heat
From her touch worries retreat….
With her I’m complete

Seagulls
winged scavengers
cleaning coastal waters
loud, extremely quarrelsome birds
scroungers.

At a bunker in coastal Ukraine
Filth and death; now sadly do reign
With wide open wounds
Many might well die soon
Yet They've never of covid complained

dropping into the sea also

For us coastal dwellers of old B.C.,
Always 'Talk Like A Pirate Day' it be.
Tamperin' with the buoys, we be found,
A-plunderin' vessels what runs aground!

Wet with sweat, the seaside called my name
Coastal waters taught me to proclaim
Gentle breeze on water
Sweating, getting hotter
Bikini came off, despite the shame!

Mendocino County’s nice place
Where lighthouse stands with added grace
Ships now avoid shoals coastal space
Lumber, goods for Casper city
Since Frisco’s quake stands on firm base
Faces ocean with a bold face

Colors
Celebrations
City lights
Country gardens
Circling pinwheels
Coastal sunsets
Come and go
Change with seasons
Center the mind
Calm the soul
Colors continue
Certainty in life

Coastal ghosts
Out of the foam
when a mighty wave crashed ashore
came a pair of transparent
horses
flying mane of course
They were last seen
galloping
upland where the mist
was settling for the evening

The
infinite Ocean,
soothing
as a
coastal breeze.
Charmingly
romantic
yet
mystical
like
the
deep blue
sea -

Sun
Peering
O’er the sea.
Prismatic waves
Reflect painted sky.
Colorful ripples dance,
Pelican silhouettes glow
With halos of pink, orange, gold.
As the orb climbs higher in the sky,
Bright light casts its gleam as stars and moon fade

Sunset Advice
The sun was setting
in the small coastal town.
The advice he was getting
he wouldn't turn down.
"Ask her here, where Earth's arms open wide;
I promise she'll say yes and make a beautiful bride."

As centuries pass
The seas advance
To take away the land.
Lost to the waves
The ancient graves
Reside below the sand.
Cliffs that crumble
Remains lay humble
Eroded by the brine.
The final tomb
To meet the spume
Clings to the shoreline.

Floods coastal and inland
Droughts across the world
Rising temps, melting ice
Tsunamis at us being hurled
We clamor for climate action
Searching in vain for consensus
Yet we scoff at the message God's sent
~ Time for us all to repent

On dawn skies, peaches
drifting by sable shadows
at coastal sand dunes
Precious gold between my toes
Blue roses on the wild sea
Fading stars, sequins
Turquoise at the horizon
Citrine golden hour
of the fresh breath of the wind
and the gemmed birds uprising

Tanka
Tan skin and smile lines.
Breakfast diners and strong coffee.
Soft breeze and salt-encrusted waves.
Lowered windows and strange songs.
Dripping ice cream and picnic tables.
Inside jokes and evening storms.
Good books and toes in sand.
All these things go hand in hand.

ship rotting near shore
prismatic colors dancing...
ocean’s reflections
nature kisses sea
multi-hues will fade at dusk...
another dawn waits
*Based on the photo of the ship in the sea at sunset.

the sea the skin of a wet dog,
black the beach; a ruined church,
the coastal lights a string of lesser ways,
we are as empty as a dropped shell
pulled across the ebb, a ripple of salt..
and as the night gets deeper
a dragon breathes like the tide:
no mistake, the dark needs its hours.

Blank verse
After a storm
There was a storm in the bay,
blue waves crashing ashore
and flooded the coastal road-
Today the bay is calm but look
at sea, it is grey anger
doesn’t becomes it.
The Haar is coming in a shawl of mist covers
the cargo ships
that moves lazily on a temporary tranquillity.

Blank verse
Coastal road that leads to nowhere
On the face of foreboding boulders,
Rugged cliffs overlooking the bay,
Narrow lane reaching out to the sea;
In this side road that’s meant to last
Cars limp by, flirting with the dust;
Here I'm home again by the seaside,
Enthralled by the waves and the tide.
