midway to winter
morning fog shrouds leafless trees
all color is gone
but the robin still chatters
with the last sad chickadee
Buttercup wax
and chickadee sticks
and flowers of bumblebee skin.
Thin little grasshopper
fiddles askew
in the wonderful forest within.
Form:
A chickadee sings in the dogwood tree,
sun rays highlight edges of pink blossoms;
spring awakens all life to renewal.
I rose; my ears pricked to a cheerful bird on the lawn

My peripatetic parrot went to sea
where he met a perspicacious chickadee
He courted her a bit too parsimoniously
For this peccadillo, she ensured he couldn't pee
Chickadee flies low
looking for food he buried
runs into a tree.

I caught a showy springtime scene
This morning bright in warming sun:
A Carolina Chickadee
An energetic orbit flapped
Then perched a tiny moment’s rest
Amid a dogwood’s snowy blooms.
Shelley, my sweet loving daughter-in-law
Is having a tough time with a physical flaw
A very strong sweetie
Impressed by this chickadee
Never known anyone with so much hutzpah
who dares chirp at me?

outside my window sits a chickadee
he loves trees of oak & pine
has a family of a hundred & three
