It can be a harsh world for animals as well as people..... I can just imagine the fear in the hunted. Your haiku expresses this well Kim. Lovely! 7 ; )

I pity the poor quaking chikadee as the sharp eyed shrike waits for it to move - Lucky the squirrel hole was handy.
