A song trickles from the thicket...
bouncing off the cowlicked grass.
It tilts its beak toward my whistle...
re-branding the day
"Bull thistle magic".
Words, the say, break no bones
But they do break hearts:
The wound caused by fire
Or a dagger would heal over time
But not the hurt caused by a lashing tongue
branding
Most I've encountered have not cared at all about this mortal shell except as means of judgement and to gain comradarie with others by searing hot metal into my skin ,branding me & shaming my sin
Into racially charged environs
burst cattlemen with branding irons
Followed, fortunately, by squadcars' screaming sirens
Whew... Sure glad those were 'dry runs'
Nagging pain invades my eye; the aura lasts for weeks.
Stabbing, searing hot poker jabs into my brain; branding my eye.
Migraine owns me now; there are no drugs to relieve my agony.
Darkness falls lame
broken by the full moon
tattered by clarity.
Constellations burn
branding blue satin.
Comets scrawl blank verse
Planets pulse ripely.
The painter stirs the paint pots
a single tone sounds.
(This is a fictional poem)
One day I was cheating at poker and I got caught.
When I saw them get the branding iron, it sure looked hot.
They branded my balls before I could leave.
I seriously regretted hiding that ace up my sleeve.
Form:
Time moves on
distances separate
memories water down
we barely notice
as people come and go.
But then we often find
Sparks of familiarity
igniting life's essence
embers branding ownership
on the edge of awareness
love never truly dies.
Form:
When I am pulled underneath
When shadows call forth
Where do I go?
I can’t catch my breath
As I feel the current
slip me further to the end.
Like the descending flicker of a candle wick
Darkness sinks in
Branding my soul
as blackness burns beneath.
Unisex sex protection in
Using condoms rubber
Latex covering the *****
During sexual intercourse
Preventing to catch a sexually
Transmitted disease branding
Names of use trojan,lifestyles,
Magnums,ect a water proof
Holding in ejaculated semen
Condoms.
Refusing to be labeled,
rejecting type and cast
With choices so enabled,
my freedom first and last
All fantasy as token,
its myths now cast aside
My path remains unbroken,
—false branding singed with lies
(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2017)
There’s a grinding in everyone’s mouth.
Something cacophonous and discordant
That resonates perfection.
It sounds like continents in your throat
Villages of little fluorescent bulbs,
Branding stories on your tongue
And crunching into you
Until you become the philosopher of the world.
Branding the wayward
as a perpetrator of evil
let us pause a moment
to examine origin of sin
knowing not love and light
is the cause not ignorance
resulting in fall from grace
all that then is required
is to show the roadmap
that such souls may awake

Incessant longings sail on my ocean of tears,
The thoughts of you lingering,
the loss of you sears the heart like the branding of an ox.
Reading back the memories, like reading from the end
to the beginning of a pocketbook,
Pictures flitter beckoning the past, but alas,
You already have moved on.
He feigns the astute overture which solemnly reigns oppressing. His head clouded
from mars to infinity, a perpetual black power convolutes through metaphysical
peripheries. Infinite is the torture granted from this being. Interdimensional
branding lays hollow in vein of mind control. Such is the vicariously voracious
The preacher preached a fiery sermon.
Words penetrating the soul like hot coals on fire.
Branding its burning mark of guilt across the hearts
Who seek after sinful desires.
That scratches the soul like prickly thorns and briars.
While Pleasure and temptation tormentingly conspire.
To lead you into the pit of fire.
I could lose myself to us,
wiggle my toes in the grassy blades
of our colloquy,
sunbathe beneath the wild heat
of your latest exclamation,
pant at its flame
Your words lick my spine
like a possessive lover,
branding me with their claims
I burn too deep, Blue
It feels like Hell fastened itself
to the soles of my feet
Walking away fast,
I look away from your eyes;
That’s all I can do;
Breath that keeps catching
soul stained cheeks turning crimson,
you don’t need to see;
Leaving innocence;
Pure, I take all of the scars
branding them with smiles;
A fresh coat of paint
you can swallow easily;
Everything’s ok;
Lights in my eyes flickering,
breathing in the atmosphere.
Sure loves talking tough
Tough guy picking on the weak
Always name-branding
But he turns to his
Loyal sycophantic sheep
To build him back up...
When he's knocked down flat
This time, by just ONE woman
Toothless Chihuahua
Stand up to Putin!
Get tougher on Kim Jong Un!
Trash his "love letters"

A silver beam of moonlight sears
your face within my memory,
branding you forever on my heart.
Its soft flare reveals a trace
of sadness there,
as this fateful evening we must part.
My grieving soul will languish in the dark,
flowers will cease to bloom,
their fragrance spent; only your
swift return will flame the heavens
and prompt the lark to burst
forth into song, a joyous testament!
To the shy hamlet vivid are the hardships of last year,
How the brazen river had surged in—ravishing, moulding,
Branding beyond repair. And yet, when the summer air hums
In the hush before rain, once again, on the crumbling fields
Rancid memories give way to emerald reveries.

Front door opened, allowing light to pour out
Nighttime sure has escaped the branding fingers
Pumpkins lit beneath me signify the end
Welcome to darkness
Little witches, ghosts, lost vampires, and werewolves
Guard the door, watch’s any offers of terror
The first sign of weary passerby they pounce
Bringing fear inside
