Testament

A silver beam of moonlight sears
    your face within my memory,
branding you forever on my heart.
Its soft flare reveals a trace
    of sadness there,
as this fateful evening we must part.

My grieving soul will languish in the dark,
    flowers will cease to bloom,
their fragrance spent; only your
swift return will flame the heavens
and prompt the lark to burst
forth into song, a joyous testament!

I've gotten into the habit of looking for your poems, Keith...always so well crafted with a natural ease and flow, yet so vivid as well - Tim
