Testament
A silver beam of moonlight sears
thy face within my memory,
branding thee forever on my heart.
Its soft flare reveals a trace
of sadness there,
as this fateful evening we must part.
My grieving soul doth languish in the dark,
flowers have ceased to bloom,
their fragrance spent; only thy
swift return will flame the heavens
and prompt the lark to burst
forth into song, O joyous testament!
