Happy birthday, Anne Marinela,
A flower is in white array;
A beautiful bougainvillea
Is arranged in brilliant bouquet.

with a tinge of thorns, you are too hot to tango

The bougainvillea
wears your fragrance
the scent a silent comfort
in my often quiet days
I enjoy our conversation
while the magenta
of its leaves
paints a beautiful picture
as if you were here

I see the image
in a mirror on the wall
light reflecting eyes
gleaming a greenish yellow
from my large tortoiseshell cat.
bougainvillea
covered in bright pink flowers
picture of delight
A standard with a ball on top

I hear and see:
Hot pavement,
Green house,
Boardwalk,
The sound of children's talk
The sun,
watching all the fun
Palm trees
Shifting in the breeze
Blue sky
Green leaves
Bougainvillea trees,
Red and vibrant
That's how you can tell you're on an island

yonder is a flaming red, vintage corolla
basking in the sun in the yard of this villa,
casting no shadow,
while by the window,
dances a burning bush, blazing bougainvillea !

Sunflowers are black and yellow
You’re a damn cute fellow
Our hands intertwined on the cello
With you, I want to sing the Sh-ha-shallow
Bougainvillea are purple and pink
Let me take you out for a drink
Together our glasses will clink
Oh, you make my heart sink!

cascades of color
creates fragrance enigma
bougainvillea
purple sun pastime
and lushness now has a name
sangria dawn fame
peach noon honey glazed
lends sparkle to cherry blooms
like Mars sunset rooms
frozen beauty falls
just past the time of tulips
in gold sun closeups

Freshly liberated from an overgrown bushy trail,
I saw myself skimming waist-deep in Lavender,
Sentries to the rear, Hollyhocks, and Foxgloves,
Bougainvillea to the left and, to the right of me,
Chose a meadow of Prairie Smoke and Daisies,
Held at a water lily pond airs Rainbow butterfly.

In the greenhouse
Listening to the rain
Among exotic plants
Thriving on pure love
And tender care
Scent of bougainvillea
Blooming out of season
Foliage of tropicals
And rare tiny orchids
Lush from Amazon jungle
All renewing my hope
Promising springtime
though winter comes

Statues orate
snow white odes
Lilies loquate
lavender soliloquies
Alyssum applauds
with purple passion
in summer's soft breeze
Aquamarine asps
slither
on a swimming pool
beside bougainvillea
reaching
over ivory urns
to toss
fuchsia coins.

Cherry tomatoes,
Red plums,
Delicious apples,
Purple plums,
Red grapes, green grapes,
Oranges.
In my garden they grow!
Roses,
Bougainvillea,
Sunflowers,
Lavender,
Orange lilies,
Readily their blossom show!
Gentle faces,
Aromatic fragrance,
Cheerful colors,
Elegantly Display their radiation
In the summer sun!

I woke this morning
to the billowing curtains
blowing in the breeze,
and the scent of the jasmine
just outside my window.
This garden is sparse:
the unkempt grass,
the bougainvillea, and
the persimmon tree we all loathe--
an over-abundance of ripening fruit.
The early morning sun
casts a hazy pillar of light
on my bedroom floor.

A young, enchanting Lilly stands tall and oh so very proud,
Others waiting in line to bloom, they silently vowed,
Eager roses showing off their virgin white beauty,
Vain, trying to steal the show, maybe feeling a little guilty,
Bougainvillea, vivaciously display a color of vibrant indigo,
They lean forward as I approach whispering, watch me grow.

This once perfect garden now sparse:
the unkempt grass,

the persimmon tree that we loathe--
an over-abundance of ripening fruit.

on my bedroom floor.
Don't wake me up.

Crepe myrtles and bougainvillea blooming in the heat.
Soaking in the rays, like a sun bronzed goddess.
Awaiting to turn a new leaf.
Waiting for the retreat of souls dancing in a spiral constellation.
A northern constellation; Canes Venatici.
A galaxy twenty million light years away.
Away from this place we call Earth, as we unearth the mysteries.
The rest is history….

One corner house in my street,
Where grows sepal like
Lovely, light, bougainvillea
Spread like a white sheet.
Overflows upon the compound wall
Attracts each and every passersby
Densely, bounty bougainvillea
is like a creamy froth about to fall.
On this brightly white flowers
Insects creep, dew settles, twinkles flash
Adding glow to rich bougainvillea
Like a touch of sea breeze on cold hours.

The toppled gravestones,
I still count the heads.
I will go with your swan song,
the bond erupts.
You were always sitting under the
bougainvillea, waiting for the swallow.
The next door summer arrives;
Why did you say, it was biting cold ?
The door shuts on the moon.
It was obviously very dark,
and I was searching the space
between ’yes’ and ‘no’.

In my spirit, I desire that the seed
To blossom from within.
May bleed from my eyes
In the manner of magenta.
The bougainvillea flowed from the vine
Along the railing of the balcony
In spring, on the balustrade.
In anticipation
To let the morning sun come up.
To let it bleed akin to this
Purple blood.
To mother earth
A desire for adscititious.

Writing on my sleeves,
I visualize an invisible coupling
of grassroots with starless sky,
when I walk on the wailing earth.
Hails big as sparrow eggs
smash the bougainvillea blossoms.
The wrestling clouds
begin a storm.
Witchcraft of the moon begins.
The pubic curve of a rock
holds a centipede
wriggling, gnawing.
A spider climbs the weatherbeaten
cheekbone
and indulges in navel-gazing.

Wreaking havoc there's no democracy;

Watercolor morning - once more
Pastel clouds linger
among springtime dreams,
sweet clover thistles
blush violet whispers
midst dew drops reflecting
peach blossom hues in
effervescent rainbows
against a canvas
of periwinkle skies,
while a pink chiffon glow in
bougainvillea brushstrokes
paints a brand new
watercolor morning
that we happily
share together…
