Service Call
the boiler is boiling, the coil is hot,
the pressure is 15, the system is not,
the pump is just kicking, the aquastat is shot,
and I'm just here thinking about the slip joint wrench!...

Boiling Barley
Burly Farley Foley bought a field at Brawley,
On Southern California's sunny soil.
There, farmer Farley Foley grew a crop of barley,
And bought a boiler just to make the barley boil....

Women and the Clock
I’ve always heard that as we
      “age,”
that big boiler room called
      “metabolism”
starts to slow . . . cool –
[Hey! I can hear that ticking
noise as heat dissipates]

If that is so --
why am I always so hot?...

As Love Dies
shattered,
as dream’s blood-splattered
tatters dripped away in gravel’ s grey
nothing left as love is cleft

a steam-less boiler standing still
no sense or purpose to fulfill
a bowed head on death’s bed
a listless sigh to lay and die

no hope, no glory
no future, no story

as we write of one soul’s plight
another day, another night...

Premium Member Boom Rumble Tumble Boom
A rumbling constantly moves this room.
Boom. Boom. Boom. Room. Boom.
Boiler?
Monster?
Perpetual thunder king?

Rumble. Rumble. Tumble. Rumble.
Back and forth. Forth and back.
The constancy of it is more than I can take.
I have not gotten used to it yet.

This is year six.
Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom.
Terrible place for a counselor’s office....

I hate your glowing window
I hate your glowing window
on the damned hill
like one of the fiery boiler in hell,
before which stretches out dark meadow
with abandoned wells,
with a something like a mill
on the horizon.
You're my halfway mistake,
you're poison.
Like a bad thriller
no one has played the role
of my potential killer
so fake.
P.S. your thoughts were so noisy...

A Life Well Lived
Why does Amsterdam taste like chocolate chips?
Dance parties with friends make me laugh.
Who said that rhythms weren't a part of work?
I listen to songs more than half
Of my life, I wonder who stole the moon.
Can anyone put it back?
I found a sun in the school's boiler room.
I warm my face in a crack
In the concrete, there's a big old weed.
Prickly spines to clasp.
Who threw these gloves in my general direction?
I've got life to grasp....

Towards Newness
The Tiger Lily is gently removed from the lounge
so it wont ever come in contact with the cats fur
My visitor asks for Steppenwolf on the player
The song "Tenderness" has reticence
Its hard to know if we are romantically involved
having never kissed
Perhaps we share too much intelligence on one another
the quiet detective work overplayed !
We agree the floorboards creak
they may need replacing
She inquires if the boiler needs replacing too...
