Inconsiderate
Hearts will lack in elation
Throwing the first stone
Pain revisited
The quiet desperation
Soothes my aching bones

peeking from clouds

soaring blackbirds

The sun rises now
Up high off the land it goes
To brightly shine down
Pink hues amongst the tree limbs
Blackdrop of blackbirds do sing

Starlings wait outside
for the blackbirds to come 'round
so they can kick butt.

hungry falcon dives
eyeing easy meal in nest
angry blackbirds rise
showering him with fierce pecks
leaving him stunned in surprise

We spit on Poe's raven
The crows and me
True blackbirds, living our truth
Eating corn ahead of the masses
Leaving nothing at borders
Glorying in our evilness

Winter blackbirds perch
high on fresh budding branches
leaves eager for birth---
one lonely Honey pirates
my Rip Van Winkle lawn scape.

WINGS OF WONDER
cool wings of blackbirds
likened to blue angel jets
spectators wonder
a shadow that soars beneath
a cloud that exhilarates

Look…a new day has begun!
Full of hope, the sky,
In his pastel morning gown,
Watches blackbirds fly
From their sleeping place,
Waits for Sun to wake and shine
On her lover’s face.

I see a football team,
in the making,
eleven geese on the pond,
this fair morning.
Red winged blackbirds get
your team together,
come as you are with
those colorful uniforms.

The Blue Princess Holly blooms
The Honeybees hum a tune
As they drink its nectar sweet
Springtime dividends a treat
The Red Wasp visits too
The nectar nourishes true
A pod of Blackbirds fly by
Like a school of fish in the sky____

I'm the worm Persephone’s minions found;
Blackbirds drinking from Apollo’s brewery
Warbled their songs into my gloomy bedroom,
For the Feast of Spring.

Sapphic stanza
Into the azure
lofty inter loppers linger
romantics wear me out
day dreaming till they die
Blackbirds in flight
brings you back into life
the fetches of light appoint
the mountains yawn
learn the rhythm
in mists striding the horizon

A moment ago,
in a flicker of pique,
with a wave of the hand,
I dispersed them.
Glorious birds,
now they are back,
gold talons wrapped,
roosting.
Glorious birds,
high on a wire,
spearing the nits
in their feathers.

A bright blue sky and the air freshly cool
as bouncy blackbirds smartly fly about the
garden from tree to lawn and back again
as though it be a mad March morn.

The pursuit
Three blackbirds
Are chasing a young seagull
In circles, they fly
Until the gull
Find an opening
It flies
Toward the ocean.
The blackbirds
Cannot
Following the gull
There.
They return
Sit in a tree
And squawks
Among
Themselves

I have a bird feeder outside to feed the chickadees, finches and cardinals, but the red winged blackbirds come along and empty the feeder.

A flock of Blackbirds visited
They fed on cracked acorns
And left well filled; a few Robins
Ate as each one returned
Two Blackbirds came to drink water
From the local shared fount
Which each day slowly gets lower
On these dry days their haunt

she travels like a silver mirror
across the midnight sky
her lights play hid and seek
within the foggy forest pines
the rotten stumps do seem to swoon
as crickets present to her their tunes
and blackbirds worship as she passes
down behind the mountain grove

Thought there was a funny burning smell?
Four and twenty cherries baked in a fruit pie.
When the pie was opened it was found to be a lie.
There were 4 and 20 blackbirds, made yell!

I do not know?
How quiet are the closing moments
of Winter
Its final lingering shadow
passing over your regret
Days lengthen into night,
returning Blackbirds a good tiding
What ended in shades of red and brown
—beginning once again
