In Llanbadarn-y-garreg, mid-Wales
There lives a preponderance of males
But Saint Padarn's church
Would never besmirch
Recitation of old fairy tails
See how they run
for every birthday they besmirch
See how they stand steadfast
isn't that a sad thing
Although my heart is crying
my soul is dying
Hear their laughter, every smidgeon
every fibre in their being
belonging
being needed, wanted
because of who you are,
besmirch no one or risk
becoming adjuvant
belonging to no one.

Look deep in my heart – you can’t see my pain
What gives you the right to besmirch my name?
You think you’re so clever
You think you’re so smart
I’m telling you straight you’re a boring old fart!

When wilting wolds wing winters ‘wards one’s way;
When happenstance shall hurry haven hence;
When all the oily oafs shall overwhelm:
Then dine upon and in the finer realm,
Wherein the fragrant dreams shall recompense
Such grim endeavors as besmirch the day.
Lissome cloud floats
In the celestial sky
With luxuriant pinion
Now rests
In total repose on the birch hill
A brief sojourn against the firmament
Then moves eastward
To besmirch the soil
In throes of parting

Bats who are hanging in need of a crap
Are advised to themselves not besmirch
Much better to go for a toiletry flap
Than do their own poo on their perch
For what, otherwise, from their uppermost end
Trickles down to the head through the fur
Proves gravity is not the roostdangler's friend
Especially when bowel movements stir!
Castigate me if you will
Deride, besmirch my name,
Yet like the burning Phoenix
I shall rise again.
You think you make me suffer
Yet your vitriol soon passes,
For like the dying Phoenix
I will rise from the ashes.
You think me defeated
Tattered, bruised and torn,
But I emerge from the flames
Undaunted, strong... reborn.
Would I besmirch the facile and the wicked,
perch-like I browse as lethargy enslaves.
Many the flock that follows flag and anthem
were I so brave to counter flotsam knaves.
Current so strong that most are swept before it,
noble and brave the outcast ne're do well.
Steadfast is he,is he who wags a finger,
nose pinching hard that harbinger from hell.
The Pope came to Eire
And found millions there
But they did not care
For priests anywhere
He dealt with the nuns
And all of the puns
Regarding bare buns
And Irish squirt guns
But what of "The Church"
And those who besmirch
The rap of a birch
For those in the lurch?
The Pope says, "We're fine
And now toe the line
To forgive is divine…"
God damn filthy swine!
Sloth-toed ivy flutters
in lissome breeze,
each pentagram the pinion
of a jade butterfly
clustered on a brick wall.
In the throes of spring
they sojourn
from dark loam
toward shingled firmament,
past celestial windows
pewter with light
as they besmirch
diaphanous peril,
imagining
when they reach heaven
they will repose like angels
in the shimmering damask
of God's aura.

Oh to be as a star!
My lissome form shimmering.
Set in the firmament
By some celestial being.
Oh to be as a bird!
To let the breeze flow over the pinion
Of my mighty wings
And men can not besmirch my name.
Oh to be as a traveler!
Each new home a simple sojourn.
To have come from the throes
Of my past tents and mansions.
Oh but this joyous reverie has come to an end
And we must return to our blissful repose.

Machiavellian schemes besmirch a murky mangrove calm
A propeller breaks the tranquil glass over an underwater farm
Neath the broken still, a peaceful giant stirs with alarm
and no consolation is found as noise churns it's quiet charm
The serene spots need to be augmented for they are our balm
Ecosystems need protection from greedy developers’ harm
Empyrean Earth for all, is in our active palms, giving alms…

live each day kindly
no harsh words...
to besmirch sweet souls

HONORABLE MENTION
In
portals
of my mind
I'm searching for
peace and harmony
thus far kept clandestine,
secreted behind locked doors.
Once undisguised, I'll be allowed
some semblance of balance in my life
to embrace every mountain peak I climb.
How I yearn to be free of life's struggles...
Symmetry between body and heart.
Without boundaries or fences,
to besmirch my true visions.
They need to coexist
in symbiotic
tranquility,
placid and
always
calm.
One need not know her life story
to actually know this woman.
Her character is quite clearly
Sculptured into her youthful hewn
Face: her flawless forehead and arched brows
bridge atop two mirrored blue pools:
Eyes that conceal lies that somehow
besmirch her most precious jewels.
Her celestial nose turned upward
suggesting a pretentious snob;
And her mouth: two full, pinkish-red,
fleshy folds with a subtle sneer
imperceptibly perceived
concealing her feigned innocence.
